I just returned from watching both of the new show in the Palace theater as well as the show in the Red Garter Saloon.
I will start my review with the Misadventures of Molly and Maverick located in the Palace Theater. I really enjoyed this show, much more than Divas which was in this theater before. The sets were nicely done as well as detailed (Pic Here). The performers were active and very good at what they do (Pic Here).
The show started with the performers mingling with the audience on the floor (Pic Here) (I had a balcony seat) and during this time you can get a decent idea of who the characters are and the roles that they will play. As the show begins one of the performers, Madame Rudy, went over the standard rules (no cell phones, how to exit, ect.) and then went right into a song (Pic Here).
I enjoyed the songs, a lot of country with a few Rock/Country songs thrown in. The singers were pretty good but the skits in between were a little forced and really not all that funny. I think that was because it was the first show of the day and the performers were not yet warmed up. The bar fight was pretty well done, and I think as they get warmed up it will look even better (Pic Here). Over all I think this show will do good in its location and has some lasting power.
Next up was Rock 'N Country at the Red Garter Saloon. I entered this show really early (the Palace show started at 1 and the first showing of the Red Garter show was at 3) but that gave me some time to write the first part of this review.
The balcony was closed when I walked in so I sat in the back corner on one of the booths and watched the show (Pic Here). I had already seen the show before and really enjoyed it so this was a chance for me to just sit back and enjoy the show (I still took a few photos though :))
As I was waiting for the show to start I saw an employee come in with a camera and set up (Pic Here) so I assume that they are going to be making a video, I wonder if we will be seeing it appear on the website or YouTube anytime soon :).
I think I said it in my last review but I will say it again. I LOVE THIS SHOW!! The music is great, the performers are on the top of their games. And everyone is very good looking (Pic Here) (I admit I have a thing for the sax player :) (Pic Here) I think this show is actually the best one that they have had in quite a few years. I just hope they can keep this quality of show up with the Halloweekends Show.
That's it for now, when the other shows open I will have a review up for each of them.

The Diva show back but is up in front now which this show opens June 9th. I think they want to make it bigger and better then it was last year. I love the two shows though and agree much with you on your review.
Caitlin
I hope they have a new song selection for the Divas show this year. I loved Matt's pictures, although some of the pictures of the Red Garter show were broken links.

The shows are recorded every year. It's mostly for stock footage and Live Entertainment purposes, I believe.

I believe they give copy to the performers which normally they do. They record to when the show lined up for awards which they have won a few times.

Sorry about the broken links, I have over 200 photos to upload and I don't have my own internet so getting the time to finish uploading is being a problem i will try to finish them by tomorrow or Monday at the latest.

I saw the R&R show at Red Garter and thought it was the best show of this genre yet.I'm not a R&R aficionado, but they sang and danced better than what I'm accustomed to at the Garter.A little less volume I would like better, but I guess that's how rock is.

I haven't seen a show yet at the PARK; I am just wondering when OHIO will be getting the CASINOS in the State? Will Cedar Point get them or will it just be the Hotels in Sandusky and Kalahria? I go to Detroit at GREETOWN so many times and I hope not to wait to long.
Wow, my EYES were already tired before reading that. Now I think I'm almost BLIND! For those that may need a quick review of English classes, there only needs to be one capital letter at the start of a sentence, or a proper noun.
Example: "In the casinos of Detroit at Greektown and MGM too.
Now class, let's all try and correctly capitalize the following sentence.
"the rain in spain falls mainly in the plains."
Okay, I'm off of my sarcastic, late night throne for now. :) As for the shows at the park, I've only seen Rock n Country so far this year, and I must say that I think it is definitely one of the best shows that I have seen at the park. I am looking forward to the new show in the Palace, though. Those were pretty good reviews, Morte.
**I just realized that I may have used the wrong spelling of "capitol"/"capital." If I have, I claim the excuse of learning how to spell that word in Canada (all in good fun my fellow Canadiens, I really do love Niagara Falls, and that silly accent is...okay, Weird Al was right on the accent ;) ). *** Edited 6/5/2007 4:09:11 AM UTC by BlueStreak64***

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
As posted in my Trip Report, I thought Rock N Country was a great show musically... but the costumes were horrible, and the choreography was your typical Red Garter show choir style. Despite that, the music was incredible. The drummer, sax player, and male singers especially blew me away.
One of the guys who could sing ridiculously high (just out of the picture in Morte's cast picture) was pouring sweat by the end, and his veins were popping out of his neck. As great as he sounded, as a trained singer, I'm a bit concerned he may have been pushing a bit too hard. I hope this summer doesn't take its toll on him. Then again, some singers (especially rock musicians) sing like that their entire life, and do just fine.

I always enjoy the shows at Cedar Point. This year my favorite is once again the show at the Red Garter. It is a totally new show with almost all new talent but they rate #1 with me. Frank amazes me and is so much fun to watch.
I was not sure what to expect in the Palace but I totally enjoyed this show. It is fast paced and has a nice selection of music, and how can you not love Maverick!
The new Dazzle Beyond Divine in the Centennial is a good show. I like the choice of music but the show itself lacks something. I am sure it will grow on me as the summer goes on.
About the costumes. Every one I see the Garter show with comments that "the costumes are not so bad this year", and then the velvet tank tops and weird, long jackets come out. And the black jumpsuits with the capes in the Centennial!? There are no words for them. The Palace costumes are a bit campy but they work in the show.
Emmy, I'm taking your favorite and having it be my favorite too! The performers rock, but Frank really amazes me as well.
I haven't seen the other shows yet, but I will when I feel like it.

The R&R show is great! I've seen it 4 or 5 times this year and enjoy it every time. The performers all seem to be having a good time and that spreads to the audience. And Morte, you aren't the only one with a thing for that sax player :)
I am looking forward to seeing the Garter and Palace shows again tomorrow. Who knew I would like Jimi Hendrix music?
Who doesn't like Jimi Hendrix music? :)
