My first coaster

jenny06's avatar

Of course I rode Mine Ride and Jr. Gemini...but as for my first major coasters it would be:

1st upside down - Corkscrew

----I just got my ears pierced and my ears were just level with the shoulder harness and my head bobbed side to side...my ears never forgave me for that

1st Big wooden coaster - Gemini

Leave it to Cedar Point to get you hooked on Coasters at a young age lol!

my first big coaster was The loch ness monster at BGE

first CP coaster was TTD

Which, oddly enough, is now some rinky-dink thing at a carnival. :)

Odd how that works out, isn't it?

I don't remember which coaster I rode my very first time. I do know it was Geauga Lake the year before RWB opened. I rode all the coasters there at that time so I'm sure it was either Big Dipper, Corkscrew, or Double Loop.

Maybe, but that coaster was pretty much identical to Wildcat,

which is still going strong.

My first "big coaster" was the corkscrew at Michigans Adventure. I was a wee lad at the time, dont remember my age.

Cedar Point is undoubtedly amazing.

Drose-

I must take issue with you- the Firecracker (now Avalanche -owned by Amusements of America) is a Pinfari Z47 Zyklon and the Wildcat is a Schwarzkopf Wildcat, or Super 8 Bahn. While they may seem similar in the fact that they are small steel coasters with single cars, the layouts are dramatically different, with the Wildcat being the superior ride. Oddly, not that many Wildcats exist anymore, while Zyklons are still prevailant, particularly on the carnival circuit. We're lucky to have our Wildcat- it's a great ride with an exciting finish. I ride it every time I go to CP and I hope they keep it forever.

On topic- my first "big" ride was the Cyclone (later known as Shooting Sky Rocket, then Screechin Eagle) at Lesourdesville Lake. I was probably 5 or 6 years old, and after that ride I swore off coasters forever. It wasn't until 1966 that a friend talked me into Cedar Point's Blue Streak. We rode the front seat, at night, and I was terrified. That is, until we got off, and I wished we had more time to ride it again! I've been hooked on coasters and Cedar Point ever since.

Side note- I've heard Big A listed the Avalanche for sale. As they play the Ohio State Fair every year, (I'm in Columbus), I hope they're looking for a more thrilling portable ride to replace it.

I'm the oldest one here. CP emp '73-'74

My first coaster was Iron Dragon. It was my first trip to CP in 2001 and I wanted to ride a coaster so bad but all of my friends went on MF (too scary for my first...but now I'm in love with it!) and then Mantis (which I still havn't been on, for the fact I heard that it's pretty rough?). So they were all making fun of me because I still hadn't ridden anything yet. But then I found another friend while they were on Mantis, and me and her rode Iron Dragon. Then it was DT. And then it was dun dun dun MAGNUM! And I fell in love right there and then. They were proud of me too :) which made me happy. So I guess my first coaster was Iron Dragon, but my first BIG coaster was Magnum. And Magnum is still my fav all the way!

Mine was Adventure Express at Knigs Island. The only thing I can remember was going in the tunnel with the giant rock dudes looking at you. Scared the P*$$ out of me lol.

The first coaster i ever went on was the Wolverine Wildcat at Michigan Adventure. Then it was off to Shivering Timbers. First ever Cedar Point coaster is the Corkscrew.

My first big roller coaster was the Blue Streak. I had never experienced airtime before so I thought was going to fall out of the ride. Now I'm much older and experienced with roller coasters and love negative-g's. I can't get enough of them now.

That's what I thought when I rode the Big Dipper at what was Geauga Lake. Except I still don't like it. lol. I like air time on hills and things like that, but I don't want to feel like I am falling out of my seat the ENTIRE time I'm on a coaster. No thankyou.

My first Roller Coaster was Timberwolf at WoF (and I love the ride for it). I was ridiculously reluctant to get on it, and was coaxed on by a girl (of course) at a Seventh Grade Band Trip. I had been terrified before that.

My first inversion was on the Orient Express a year later. Now I just feel lucky to have ridden it! God I miss that ride (they tore it down a couple Summers later). I have this strange feeling of remorse every time I see the footers left in the forest next to Spinning Dragons. Of Course, then I see Patriot and move on ;).

My first coaster at CP will probably be Raptor or Magnum (we decided to work our way up a bit)... Tomorrow!!!!

You havn't been on a coaster at CP yet? You are gonna have soo much fun :) and those are 2 VERY good choices. Magnum was my first big coaster and it's still my favorite. And I was very hesitant to ride Raptor, or any inverted coaster for that matter. But then I asked around on this site and everyone said that I had to do it or I would definately regret it. And it was amazing! I literally felt like I was flying. A little bit of advice though, ride near the front or the middle. Because the back is an entirely different experience. I found it to be extremely rough. That's just my opinion, but a few other people backed it up too.

But anyways have fun!! :)

My first coaster was the "Wild One" at what was Wild World, and is now a Six Flags in Maryland. At that time, that was the only coaster in the park, and the park was known more for it's animals and water slides. Now, there are at least three steal coaster there, no animals, and an entire water park. I have ridden that coaster so many times I don't remember if I was scared the first time. The park is just scary now so I don't think I will be riding the "wild One" again.

My first coaster ever? Cedar Point's own... drum roll, please! ... View-Blocking Box! Uh, I mean, Disaster Transport! Taer er downz!!

Okay, so maybe the ride's not that bad, but come on... Do we really need to have a big ugly indoor coaster that can't even run in rain? Jeez. Millennium Force, even, can run in rain...

My first coaster was at Volmar's Park,
I don't remember riding it. My parents said I was the
only one in the family who would go on it...
My second may have been Mine Ride or WildCat,
in 8th grade, 1982, My 1st trip ever to Cedar Point.
All the -experts- in my class made me skip corkscrew
because it was a wimp coaster.. :)

GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.

My first big coaster was Gemini around 9 or 10. That was the biggest coaster I would ride until 2006, now I'm an addict and ride them all, w/ Raptor being my favorite. Of course my mom blames herself as she rode Bluestreak while she was pregnant with me. Sounds like a good excuse to me. My daughter rode Iron Dragon last year and can't wait to go this year as she has hit the magic number of 48. She will be 6 this year and hopefully she will want to ride Gemini this summer.
