Music on Cedar Downs

Anyone ride Cedar Downs today at the park? I went on expecting the good old rally horn followed by the traditional calling of the race by various voice-over recordings.

Instead, the rally horn was followed by some well...corny music. I was kind of disappointed being I really liked the old voice-overs better. Especially against this music, who knows where it came from.

That race recording has been on the Cedar Downs since the beginning of time. In the 70's I worked at the Surrey (now Subway) right between Cedar Downs and the Cadillacs, and all summer long I heard that ride. (the race chatter was always interrupted by "do not rock your horse...do not ro..Do NOT ROCK YOUR HORSE")

I'll be there today through Wednesday and I always ride the CD, so i'll be sure to check it out. Music is nice. Change is good, right?

I thought the music was cool! I hope they put different tunes in or it will get old! I also like the voices! Either way I am glad to see that ride keep going! That is a great piece of history. I love that ride!

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

I say they take it out and put a interactive fountain there. It would be the best idea ever!!!11

Let's Get Weird.

I was disappointed to hear music instead of the call of the race. It's just another example of less and less themeing. Normally you could blame less themeing on cost. How did this save CP any money?

James Whitmore

Yeah I'm not really sure you can blame this one on trying to save money. In fact by the time they pay someone to come up with the music and change the sound, Cedar Point would lose more money then just keeping it as is.

It wouldn't be hard to simply alternate the recordings. One ride, the corny music (eh, it's not horrible), and the next, the good old play-by-play.

or it could be Shinia Twain over and over and over and over

I was sad to see they do not provide whips and spurs so we can get those fake horses running a little faster. That ride is just goin down the toilet.

i noticed the new music also. i agree that the announcer calling the race was more fun

Both times I walked past the ride, it was in the process of being loaded so I did not hear the music.

What kind of music is it? Is it a commercial artist, or a piped in in house type music?

Eather way, I like the announcer.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

You mean you could actually understand the call of the race? I don't know how many times I've been on the ride and it all sounds garbled to me.

That's one thing the whole park needs, better sound system.

I didn't ride it, but what did it sound like?

Things get old and need to be replaced. The general public won't even notice the difference.

Too bad that same logic can't be applied to Cedar Fair management.

I thought the music was really cool. I sometimes ride Cedar Downs just for the fun of it. It's a nice relaxing ride.
