Music in the park.

Does anyone agree with me that they need to update the music. I mean, yes do keep some songs, but definitely add newer ones. After working there for 2 years, I feel the need of changing the music or just updating it. Toxic is getting a little bit old *lol*.

Back in 2000, CP was on a "Sousa" era. Be careful what you wish for. A whole summer of marching music got old really quick.

I do like the music! But I would love to see them add different stuff too! I know that I love to hear music through the park. It adds to the fun!

They need to add some more music. During Halloweekends I heard the One Eyed Purple Monster song every hour at the same time. Or in Magnums line you can hear the 99 baloon song in English and German about 10 minutes apart. I call for a music revolution. LoL.

I like the current music. I like the oldies music they play.

I know I enjoy listening to the Magnum PI song and The Dallas theme when I am over by the Maverick.

The worst thing about much of the music is that it's not even the original, it's some horrible cheap cover that's cheaper to license.

Cant believe people dont like the Magnum P.I. theme song along the Gemini Midway. Magnum only went off the air some 15 years ago. Maybe they are trying to keep with the 70's & 80's theme for Gemini but who knows....

I agree to change, please, the music they play around the park.

1. Switch the "stayin alive" song by Beegee's by Maxair's line with something else

2. Stop playing Beach boys in TTD's line during fall at halloweekends when summer's over.

3. Get rid of the two songs in MF's line: "I'm every woman" techno mix, and "Breakfast at Tiffany's" mix. All the other techno songs are OK, some are actually good, however.

4. NO MORE LOVE SHACK! please, no one wants to hear those lyrics. (Bang, Bang, bang on the door....) :)

I SAID IT ONCE, AND I'LL SAY IT AGAIN, IF I HEAR THAT ON MY OWN SONG AGAIN, I'LL NEVER WALK INTO FRONTIER TOWN AGAIN!!!11!!1!!!haha but really im sick of that song!

My vote is to shatter the CD with the Love Shack on it, then burn the pieces, then scatter the ashes into Lake Erie, and then take all of the lake water and dump it into the Pacific Ocean.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Thankfully we managed to get Love Shack out of the Mantis queue this season! Unfortunately, it resulted in the addition of some Miley Cyrus and High School Musical songs....

Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. I would take Love Shack any day over some Miley Cyrus teen wonder crap.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Why would they play Disney crap? I don't get it. That is why I bring my Ipod.

You hear all of those songs throughout the park until you get to Frontier Town. Then, it changes to western music, sometimes. MORE TECHNO! Less fake Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus.

Love Shack MUST STAY. It's my favorite. To me it's as much a part of Cedar Point as anything. It just get's ya in a fun mood.

maverick_owns's avatar

^you saying Cedar Point is now a "love shack"? Just do me a favor, play Love Shack and put it on repeat for two years. Then tell me it must stay. Now, what if CP were to play some Bring Me The Horizon. I think that would be a riot!

I say they use all paramore songs :D

Ok. The reason I hate Love Shack is because if its metephorical (sp?) reasonings. Think about it. They sing about a bunch of party folks getting together in some sort of "love shack" Why don't they sing "party shack"? because well, you get the idea, and second, those words "bang bang bang on the door, baby..... bang!!" Lets just say they're not singing about typical party folks simply "knocking on the love shack's door" That's as blunt as I'm going to be, since this is a family site. And no, CP is not going to ever be a love shack either.....

Oh, its too late for that, its already a "love shack," just a love shack that isn't open to the regular guests.

As for the song, c'mon, give me one song from that era that wasn't sexually charged or had references to drugs in either the lyrics or the idea behind the music video. If we're going by that, then almost all of the songs would be gone.*

Now, on the actual topic of the individual playlists: don't remove Love Shack. A day at the park without hearing Love Shack would not be a day at the park. If it has to go, at least replace it with another wonderful B-52s hit like Rock Lobster (still one of the most random songs I have ever heard) or Channel Z. Miley Cyrus (and similar Disney generated pop stars) is ok on the one condition its confined to the kids areas. Toxic needs to go, I won't even play the song on the DDR machines, that's how much I hate it. But aside from Love Shack, DO NOT touch the Maynard version of Gonna Fly Now.

Going back to Frontier Town, I won't say much other than add more Rascal Flatts! They are the only country group that I actually like and listen to. Overall, the playlists need to be a little bigger, especially Frontier Town/Trail. In 2006 I heard Summertime Blues five times in a little over an hour between Gemini and Millennium Force (this includes getting on rides). For the flats with music, expand the playlist, if only for the sanity of their operators. :) I can't tell you how many times I wanted to strangle Avril Lavigne (sp?) this summer. Thankfully there was Relient K right in the same vicinity, so I managed to keep my cool until it got back to Bon Jovi and Velvet Revolver.

*I realize this may be a logical fallacy, but I think you get the idea.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
