Muffleheads (the bar, not the bug!)

Anyone been recently and have a run down on prices for the swim-up bar in Shores? It's been many years since I entered Shores, but my wife has back problems and we'll probably spend some time in the water this summer. I looked all over the internet and couldn't find pricing. I know it's safe to assume it won't be cheap, I'm just looking to get a general idea for budgeting purposes.

I was fortunate to spend the past two weekends at Muffleheads. It's such a nice spot to escape to when the water park is crazy busy on a weekend. Just an FYI, in case you weren't aware, Muffleheads opens at noon (not when the water park opens). If you get in line (yes, there's a line that usually start 15-20 minutes before Muffleheads opens) early enough, you can get a few chairs along the beach side near the lake. Just flip your chair around and you'll have a nice view of the lake/boats.

Pricing on drinks is pretty high. I want to say it was $8.50-ish for a Margarita, so I would expect the same for any mixed drink. The margarita and Long Island I received two weekends ago barely had any liquor in it. Just make sure you're watching them pour the drinks to ensure you're getting what you're paying for. And don't be afraid to call out the bartender if they're not pouring enough booze.

@RyanRufe

Thanks, that's all fantastic information. $8.50 is not bad for a margarita if they actually give a reasonable pour. I had no idea about the open time or the wait, though. Thanks so much!

I was disappointed to see the upper level hot tub disappear this year. That was the best place to relax with a "Kick in the Head".

The pricing is pretty much fixed rate and is posted at the new walk-up bar by the wave pool with drink menus and signage (didn't see any menus at swim up bar): I believe its just under $9 for mixed drinks with tax included. I don't know or care what beer prices are sorry I can't help with that. The bartenders are like other bartenders everywhere else, they are doing their jobs and pouring as directed, that being said pours can easily be shortened given a customers attitude/aggressiveness/sobriety as well.

And as always with service industry: don't save your tip for when you leave and not get appreciated for your generosity, tip well on the first drink and appropriately for each service after. Your service experiences will be so much better.

Too right. If I do not know the bartender, I pay as I go (including a generous tip). If I am familiar, I will run a tab.

Oh yeah, I get taking care of them, I was service industry for 10 years, and my wife about the same. I have great respect for anyone behind a bar, and enjoy showing my appreciation.

I disagree on tipping as you go, do you tip your wait staff at Famous Daves everytime they refill your drink or bring your food? I understand if I'm getting a beer and going on my way, I'll tip then every time, but not if I'm getting a table and going to be there a while.

I'm a very good tipper, too much my wife says. My general rule is I start at 35% of the bill, If the service is lacking the tip amount starts to go down. Never below the standard 17% unless the server is absolutely horrible. I should not have to bribe the server into treating me like a valued customer.

I worked the restaurant industry from a line cook, bartender, and server. I know what its like to have been tipped a promise of a prayer from a reverend to a $100 tip on a few beers. Either way the best possible service should be provided.

On the topic of the water bar and paying...can you still have your drinks billed to your room account at Breakers? Did I make that up? I know I was somewhere with a pool bar that let you just charge your drinks to your resort room...
