Mr. Skyward at Sandusky Mall

I finally got to see the famous Mr. Skyward! I was Christmas shopping with my mom and my girlfriend in the Dollar Store in Sandusky Mall, when I turned around and there he was! He was wearing a black Raptor sweatshirt. I kept looking at him as I browsed the store, but I was too nervous to go up and say hi. My mom is like, "who the hell are you staring at"? I tried explaining to her but she never got it......parents. He never bought anything, just looking at little nick-naks set out for the holidays. I starting talking about Cedar Point on purpose to my mom to see if he would look up, but he didn't. (I don't think my mom was paying attention anyway)!

Mr. Skyward has been a fixture at CP for years. I remember seeing him way back in the early 80s. He's always looked the same and always acted the same. He's probably one of CP's biggest fans, so, more power to him!

I missed it..  It's like being in the presence of a world leader or something.   Mr. Skyward is my hero.  I want to make shirts up with his picture on it. 

Think about it.   People go to the mall and recognize him.  Some of us who go to CP regularly aren't recognized.  He has reached pop icon status.  When I get enough money to retire I'm going to be like him.   I want to be CP all of the time.

Who is the weird ones?  Us or him.  We sit and talk about CP.  He's there almost every day.  Sounds cool to me.  Now granted we are quite as socialy disfunctional, but who's perfect?

I remember back in December of 1998 I was sitting inside the sportsbar at Fridays in Sandusky with Scott (shiveringtim) and he walked in there, looked around and then left.

I think Mr. Skyward is a great CP icon also. I'm glad to see someone like him really show his CP Spirit like the rest of us "Cedar Point Addicts". :)  :)  :)

Hooper and I also know that Mr Skywards other name of fame is "Sandusky Sports Guy" Apparently he also appears at various sports in the Sandusky area, and don't be surprised if you one day see him on tv at a Browns game!
I also know a former Raptor ride op who told me he took a pic with Mr Skyward, and I for one definitely plan on asking him to take one with me next season. He held my hand and tried to sit on my lap so I am so sure he'd take a pic with me! :)

I don't know how to put this in a sensitive way, but what exactly is wrong with him? You can't say "nothing," because there's nothing normal about his behaviour.

As much as I go to CP...I dont think I have ever seen him...dont know if its because I dont pay attention..or what...but exactly...who is he and how did he get this status?

From what I learned in psychology class, Mr.Skyward seems to fit a lot of the classic symptoms of schizophrenia:   strange posture, staring without blinking,  gazing at an object or objects repeatedly,  peculiar use of words or odd language structures, deterioration of personal hygiene, bizarre behavioral quirks, irrational statements, and lack of social relationships. Just a thought :)

Sorry but you just described half the people from this site in one way or another..... 
I mean how offten do you stare at a coaster??? we use words like "invert" and "cobra roll" and "hey.. I wanted to sit in 3-1"
How do you describe people who will stand in line for hours for a 1 min ride?? I'd call that "bizarre behavioral quirks" ... "irrational statements" ohh come on... "Meanstreak is the best ride in the park!!!"

It's kind of hard to miss him.  He goes alone and wanders around.   His hair is a mess and he seems to have the same clothes on most of the time.   He stands out bad.  At first I was kind of nervous.   He seems harmless.  It seems like I've seen him on Sunday's the most.  Maybe it's just because the park has less people in it and he's easier to spot.  Our resident MSU fan has a picture of him on his web site.  I am gonna try to get a picture with him next year. 

Now there is an idea.  We had Gemini 100 and DT 80.  Should have a Skyward picture contest.  I'm not sure how to judge it, but it would be cool. Maybe the most pictures with him in a month or something....

A fun contest would be to take multiple pictures of scenes at CP, and then superimpose a picture of Skyward's head someplace on each picture, where it would be hard to find. We can have a "Find the Skyward" contest.

I was sitting entrance when Mr. Skyward was *flirtting* with Jo.  That was one of the funniest things I think I've ever seen in my two years of working there.

Raptor Christopher 2000 and 2001 and beyond!

I think the best was at MM when Jo, Hooper, and I were taking a food break from Raptor.  Hoop went to get pizza, and when I turned around, between Hooper and us, there he stood, and just over his shoulder you could see Hooper doing his best Mr. Skyward impression.  Then Jo says hello, and who knows what he said back. :)
