Move the webcam?

Anyone think the top of the Power Tower would be a better place for the webcam?

Or better yet, leave this one and add more? Say, PT, MF, MS, and Magnum? How much would that really cost and just think of the traffic it would pull to their site!
Yeah, if they just had one on PT that rotated 360 degrees, that would be perfect, you could see much more.
If you notice while the picture is loading or it doesn't come up a drawn picture of MF is behind it. Just wanted to tell you.

I think the webcam will remain there since it's always been there, and for a person planning to come to Cedar Point it is a good perspective of the whole park.

Has anyone caught "Running of the Bulls" in action on the webcam yet. That would look neat.
Put the web cam on Power Tower? Have you noticed that the only way up is by ladder ;), and it would be very difficult to put the proper connections up there (telephone, electricity), and how would you do maintance on it? These are just some of the things that made Demon Drop the choice location.

Connections would not be a problem. There is electricity already up there and with the technology now a days it should not be a problem. Wireless ethernet will go much farther than that.

What do they do then the blinking light goes out on the top? They climb up and fix it!
It won't happen.. it's gonna stay where it's at for a while..

I have no problem with the one staying on the Demon Drop. But, I do think that CP is way missing the internet boat by not using more cams.

More cams = more site traffic. If they dont want the traffic then they are missing a great advertising opportunity.
Why don't they put one aiming down the MF lift hill, so you can see everyone get scared to death, even take on the on-ride photos and somehow display them in a constant slideshow on the site, now that would be cool, or even mount one of the front of the train that switches to point at the guests than the the front and it keeps on swicthing during the ride, even though that would be costly and hard to do, its just fun to imagine!lol!

You can't display the images online without getting permission from teh people in the pics. Much like being an interviewed or featured person in a TV spot..

yeah, true!
Not sure you are entirely correct. I am pretty sure there are loopholes to that. For example there are web cams on streets of New York. Do they have people there getting permission?
They are not closeup shots of people...

Purposely taking a pic of someone on a ride and then using it for commercial advantage without permission is a no-no. Useage rights fall under copyright useage and likeness rights laws of the United States. Ever notice how if you win a large prize.. you have to sign the right for them to use your name or likeness for thier commercial advertising?

I think that there is a sign at the entrances that says something about by entering these premises you are allowing yourself to be photographed. It must be okay to photograph guests. All those people in that Magnum post card didn't sign a release.

I think they do have to inform the guests that there being photographed.

i still wish on ride pics had an option of being e-mailed for a small fee,if they were 2 bucks to send to one e-mail address, i know id spend more than buying a pic for 8 bucks over the course of a year, and id guess either lots of others would, yet they would still sell alot of the 8 dollar pics too.

Too much of a headache... imagine someone typign in the wrong email address.. or server problems that stop the pic from being sent or recieved. It would be a nightmare..

Somewhat OT, but doesn't it seem that CP is empty on the Webcam? Maybe it's just the times I'm looking. But I do recall plenty of times I was at CP at the time I was watching and the midway being packed.
I realized that too. But if you look close enough you can see a good deal of people in the usual midway areas at the proper times like lunch and the first couple of hours for the Raptor line but since a lot of people are symmetrical with the park half of people are probably in Frontier Town if you look at the Webcam in the afternoon. Also, the weather hasn't exactly been at it's best and that could be a deciding factor.

If they're not going to take that dreadful screen down, how about one on the back of the screen, pointed towards MF and the Trail, and another on on top of White Water Landing looking down on Frontier Town towards the Mine Ride/rail crossing, and then another one on the top of the "high" turnaround on the Gemini (Witch's Wheel side) looking towards the Magnum and the Corkscrew? Those three might get you a good feel for the overall crowd in the park, and wouldn't be close enough to "focus" on anybody in particular.
