Most Coaster Track: CP or SFMM?

While washing my limited edition Millennium Force T-shirt today, I read over the eleven world records that the coaster broke back in 2000, and wondered if Cedar Point was still the park with most coaster track, or if Magic Mountain has taken that title too with the addition of X, and Scream! If anyone knows that would be appreciated.

I'm not sure on that but why didn't CP tell us the records TTD broke? I know they broke more than 3 here (tallest, fastest, most).

I'm pretty positive Cedar Point still has the most coaster track in one park. I looked up the stats and Cedar Point had about 9,000 extra feet with the exception of a few coasters that wouldn't make any difference.

I hope CP will give out T-Shirts with the specs and records broken like they did with MF.

The best thing about Six Flags "Worlds of Adventure" is that Cedar Point is nearby!

i forget how much more feet of track CP has but yes they still have the most. i remember reading this somewhere else and MM would have to put in a few coasters with CP not buiding, to maybe beat them.

Besides the great rides and being the best of everything, the best part about Cedar Point is that it isn't Six Flags! YAY!

A quick check at rcdb.com shows that CP leads SFMM by 1863 ft. (51598 vs. 49735).

This is counting Gemini, Colossus, and Superman twice for the duel tracks, estimating Psyclone's length from Georgia Cyclone's which was also designed by Dinn/Summers, estimating WT's length at 850', and estimating Canyon Blaster's length at 450'.

I looked in the Cedar Point website and it had a page stating all of Millenium Forces records. Record number 8 stated that the park now had 44.013 feet of coaster track. Now add in Wicked Twister and TTD you got 47, 663. But that is not including both sides of Geminis track, just one side.

I think that CP is still holds the record for most track. They metioned it on thrillworld in a article on TTD.

I was in Southern Cal a few weeks ago, and was able to take a day off and make my first trip to Magic Mountain. It was the day before Scream opened. I thought it was a park with a lot of potential, but I was disappointed in a lot of respects. First, the grounds weren't really well kept up and the bathrooms were horrible (not clean, graffiti on walls, etc.). Second, at least 5 or 6 non-coaster rides were closed, and many of the coasters were closed (Colossus, Scream, Flashback, 1 side of Superman.) (I include Scream in the list because even though it wasn't scheduled to open until the next day, wouldn't you think they'd be testing it?) Third, the rides were run in typical 6 flags fashion -- many coasters were running only one train, and the operators are in absolutely no hurry to move people along.

On the positive side, X was well worth it. I thought it was fantastic and different. I thought the most fun rides were the ones that were built before six flags took over. Revolution was the first steel looping coaster, an ACE landmark, and that was really fun. So was Ninja, a steel coaster with overhead track that follows the contour of the mountain. Gold Rusher, the park's first coaster, was also a lot of fun.It runs low to the ground, following the contours of the mountain.

Unfortunately, many of the newer rides are just built along the perimiter of the park, including, as has been mentioned elsewhere on this board, in the parking lot. I was also a little shocked, as someone else had mentioned, to see that they hadn't even bothered to paint over the angle parking lines under the new coaster, Scream!

So it was a fun day and well worth it, but I just wish someone else owned the place. MM is supposed to be 6 flags premier park, but unless someone else takes it over or 6 flags gets their act together, it's best days are definitely behind it.

Unfortunatly, typical 6 Flags fashion.

There's just some things that are obviously better done at Cedar Point than in Six Flags parks. Like my dad once said, "Boy, Six Flags is the poor man's Cedar Point." That being said, we're getting Six Flags passes this year!

"What the heck?! Top Thrill Dragster is not only 128 feet tall!! Oh wait, that's meters..."

I went on Roller Coaster Database and did some adding. I got 49,513 feet for Cedar Point and 39,252 feet for Magic Mountain. So Cedar Point still holds the record by about 10,000 feet.

Hey you could always count the railroad track too.

I don't know.. i think the "most track" record is a bit silly.

I was at Magic Mountain in mid-March. I had very low expectations about the park after reading so much online about it, and was pleasantly surprised by what I experienced. We were lucky, because everything was open except for Colossus(due to construction on Scream). X was everyhing I hoped it would be, Riddler's Revenge was perfect in every way, I was truly shocked at how fast those trains were being dispatched. That baby literally burned rubber on the way out of the station! Goliath was an extremely smooth and enjoyable experience. The ride ops were somewhat "relaxed", which meant no stapeling(a very good thing). I feel very lucky indeed to have gotten some off-season coaster time in before May 4th. :)

For those who have gone to SFMM, which is better: Riddlers Revenge or Mantis? I've been wondering this for a long time? Thanx.
Ryan, I am a huge fan of Mantis, but Riddler's Revenge was absolutely amazing! My personal opinion is that it's better because it has a much larger footprint of land to roar through. I think that those stand-ups need some room to breathe! My buddy who absolutely hates Mantis loved RR and we rode it 3 times. For most of the first ride I kept screaming "It's so smooth, Oh my God, it's so smooth"! On a bizarre side note, while waiting in line for our second ride, they stopped everyone from boarding and rushed Britney Spears, her friend and a bodyguard into the front car for a private ride. I'm not a fan of hers, I'm just telling you what I saw. And if you're wondering, she didn't look that good. My buddy snapped a few pics of her, they were with a disposable camera, but you can tell who it is.

Ryan -- Riddler's Revenge is definitely better.. As macho nachos says, it has more land, but for me, the best thing was that it so much smoother. I usually get off of Mantis with a headache..

Macho Nachos - I agree - they *do* pay a lot of attention to Riddler's Revenge. Not only was it an awesome ride -- I thought they were running it extremely well. (Unfortunately, then they turn around and run 1 train on Psyclone, 1 train on Ninja, etc.)
I absolutely loved X -- it was very well executed and a lot of fun, and very unique.

I'm not a big fan of the newer B&Ms. Those rides seem to have much of the forces engineered out of them. Although, I hear Talon is as good as Raptor, so maybe it's a park thing and not new design limits at B&M. I think Mantis is a superb coaster, that ride has some great transitions and strong G forces. I haven't been on Riddler's Revenge, but from what I hear, it is designed to be much less forceful than Mantis, so I probably won't like it as much.

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

I also love those quick transitions and forces you get on Mantis, they're one of the best things about the bug in my opinion.

Richard, what'd you do?
