I know the many years i have been on here that nobody can predict the crowds. I am asking what other people have observed in previous years. Turns out i cant do opening weekend due to a class, but can go the monday and tuesday afterwards. I have never been there on a weekday, just weekends, and never in may right after the opening. What have people on here seen? this is uncharted waters for me and was asking people that have navigated it before. thanks all

The past 2 years have resulted in more crowded first Mondays. I remember the first I monday stayed for 3 years ago. The park was DEAD and I got MANY MANY walkons aaalllll day. But these seasons that have started further in May have resulted in a much busier scenario. It's mostly due to schools. I remember how many buses there were last year. It was ridiculous.

Monday May 16th - Friday May 20th is Math & Science Week, so that probably explains all the busses you saw TTD 120mph. I am guessing that Monday through Friday of the next week would be less crowded than Math & Science Week, but I have no idea how many schools will already be out by then so who knows.

Overnight stay at Breakers Express: $70
Riding rides the size of skyscrapers while "legally" breaking the local speed limit: Priceless
Math and Science week sucks. I was there for three days of it last year and wanted to hang myself. Especially since I had expectations of no crowds, which was the whole reason I planned the trip. Worst part was, it was nice out, but no soak city yet to break up the monotony.
Not only are there a lot of kids, but many of them are absolute savages.
I get the impression you wouldn't be satisfied by anything less than the park being open only for you, during Halloweekends. :)

^^ I like when there's people in the park. I do not like when they are hitting me with basketballs (cause they got no skillz), screaming in my ear while standing in line, and my goodness, all the flourescent t-shirts give me brain damage.
Seriously though, when you have big expectations of low crowds, and end up with long lines, it's disappointing. It's all about expectations. When I go for HW I expect to ride very little and just enjoy the atmosphere.
Your solution is simple: stop expecting light crowds. This isn't the first comment you've made regarding being inconvenienced by large crowds at the park, so maybe a different set of expectations will make your experiences more enjoyable.
There's talk by industry insiders that 2011 could see even bigger crowds than 2010, so prepare yourself.

I have worked the last 2 full seasons and this is typically the case. Loneranger If you are coming the first week of the season i would come either Tuesday or Wednesday. Tuesday probably being the best but as everyone on here says attendance is very unpredictable so no guarantees.

LOL! Fair enough. But I think most of us *try* to visit the park under as ideal circumstances as possible, right? So it's disappointing when lots of planning and strategy does not pay off. I'm certainly not alone in my comments about crowd levels last year. Who among us enjoys a packed park?
Still, in my 30+ days at the point last year, I had an absolute blast. So it is true when they say a bad day at CP is still better than a good day somewhere else!
Its like I always say, "Good for the park, bad for the enthsiasts". Sure we would all love to be at the park during a slow day, but we also have to acept that we have no control over it and just hope for moderately light crowds. Ive stopped expecting slow days, just so I dont dissapoint myself.

Ive noticed that the 2nd week the park is open is alot better then the first. Not as many school buses. The last sunday of may and the first sunday of june are also good times to go as many high schools have the graduation ceremonies.

I was there that day, and how glorious it was! :) The year after that... just the opposite. Math & Science day made it feel like a Saturday in July, just without the heat. But either way, a crowded day at Cedar Point is still better than almost any other day on my calendar ;)

Well heading everyone's advise I chose to make my weekend excursion the 23rd and 24th of may. Hopefully there wont be too many schools there, plus being the beginning of a work week i hope for light crowds during the day.
