mom and pop motels

Does anyone have any experiences -positive or
negative- with any of the local motels in sandusky?
Such as Mecca or Coronado?

I hear Hotel breakers is nice......:)

Maples Motel is cheap and nice. However it's VERY close to the train tracks so you're almost guaranteed to get some late night wake up calls. :)

While it's not a mom-and-pop, I have stayed at the Knight's Inn on the beach road. It's no hotel breakers, but it is very cheap and if you're just looking for a place to sleep will get the job done.

Knight's Inn - If you're a light sleeper, keep in mind that the nearby train tracks are traveled often & loudly throughout the night.

At all costs avoid the Travel Lodge in Sandusky - it is a Hell hole and a dive in every sense of the word--DISGUSTING! :(

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

Ive stayed at the Howard Johnson right at the end of the causeway by Thirsty Pony with no problems.

thanks all.
missmaverick07:we always get to sandusky in the evening. stay off point.
and then stay at the breakers for 2 days.
to anyone unfamiliar with CP: we are from eastern WI and always drive
right past SFGreat America:) it is overcrowded because of chicago
and the coasters are whimpy:)

While it might not be what you are looking for, I have had great success at Econo Lodge which is about 5 minutes from CP.

I live about an hour and a half from the park, so I don't stay overnight often, usually just opening weekend. During opening weekend, my friends and I usually book the roadway inn. It's atrocious, but in May they never have enough bookings, so they move us to the comfort Inn right by Thirsty Pony for the same price. It's not a bad deal at al.

While I've never personally stayed at the Maples, I know several people who have and they all highly recommend it. It's a little mom & pop joint.

You have to like trains if you are staying at the Maples, but other than that I have heard nothing but good things about that place.
