Mine Ride Trains

I have noticed that in the station where they park all of the trains for storage they don't have any in there. The day I was there they were running trains 2,3,4. I don't know what happened to trains 1,5. Does anybody else know? They used to be there but maybe they just don't need them anymore. On Monday the ride line was all the way down and out. It was a good thing they used three trains. Thats the first time I saw them use three trains in a long time.

I believe that the ride is now only configured to run three trains, so they never bothered putting the other two back on after the offseason. I would think they would have those other ones so they could rotate the trains and keep wear and tear to a minimum.

That's more or less true. There used to be two mid-course brakes on the ride so that it could, with two brakes, two stations, and two lifts, run five trains. That apparently required a crew of 26 people, which I presume broke out to 13 per shift...ten of them just to kick the lap bar pedals and push the train out of load. I don't remember separate load and unload, but I do vaguely remember the crew shoving the train out of the station...

Anyway, when the ride got a new control system a few years ago with the new brakes, the variable speed lift motors, and a new computer, the two block brakes were removed, so that instead of 6 blocks, the coaster now only has four, so it can only run three trains. And it can hardly do that, because the trains still come into the station WAY too slow.

(edit: forgot to add...)
Anyway, one of the missing trains is sitting in the boneyard along with a couple of Demon Drop cars, a Wildcat car or two, the old Dorney sky ride, and a disused CP & LE locomotive tender. That Mine Ride train is wrapped in plastic, I believe. The other train was last seen behind the workshop in the Mean Streak infield, between the shop building and the wide end of Mean Streak's structure.

Yes, Dave you have it right. The crew was the largest all girls crew back in its day. (Made for some fun crew parties but I'll leave that for another thread.:))

Back in the day(heck I even SOUND old on this forum) when Mine Ride ran full tilt, the Frontier Lift was in operation and there was a Country Show at the ampitheatre where the Snake River Falls queue is that part of the park really was quite the hub of activity.

A little of topic but this refers a little to what Rideman had said about the boneyard. Were is, or what ride gives the best view of the boneyard?

The train gives you a good view. It is right behind SRF.

Yeah, I could always see it from the train, it was just a short view and there is a lot of trees in the way. Thanks to both of you, ill make sure to look harder tommorrow.

When you go over the third hill on Millennium Force, as you come out of the tunnel, look down to your left. When you go over the sixth hill, as you approach the tunnel, look down to your right. Whether you can see anything from the ("choo-choo", not coaster) train or not depends on whether the gate is open or not.
