Millennium Mania???

I'm new to this board and I heard people saying that they got to ride MF 12 times in a row without getting off during MM. I was just wondering what MM is?
Millennium Mania was the best $20.00 that I have ever spent at the park! It was run for two years after Labor Day and before Bonus Weekends the park opened 5 rides from 6-11 pm, if I remember correctly, for $20.00. The first year they did it Wed.-Fri. and the next year was Thru. & Fri. The rides open were Millennium Force, Magnum, Raptor, Mantis, and Power Tower. Everyone that went had to pay, even if you were a season pass holder. It is just to bad that the park lost too much money on the event to keep doing it. They only had a limited number of tickets for sale, but could not even sell them all. It was the true meaning of ERT!

Yes Millennium Mania.

They had it a couple of years ago during september where they have 5 rides open, sell wrist bands for 19.00 each and you go to the park from 3pm until 9pm (or so might have been 10pm) and ride your hearts out. There is low attendance and limited tickets available so it allowed you to ride without getting off. I was able to just sit on MF for 12 straight rides before my buddy and I were feeling a little light headed from all the speed. They did not have it last year, and the year before that was the time when the cable broke on MF so they allowed us to ride Vertigo free of charge instead. That was COOL.

In case you were wondering... the 5 rides were

Millennium Force (or course)
Magnum
Raptor
Power Tower
Mantis

The fearsome 5 as they wre once known. I highly doubt they will have it this year, but it would be awesome if they did. That was such a GREAT time!

Dang Tony, you and I must have been typing our reply at the same time because I pretty much said exactly what you did and your response was not there when I started to type.

Sorry

This was truely a great event. I went on September 13. It was awesome. The weather was cold and rainy, yet they keept all of the rides open. I stayed on Raptor around 12 times without getting off (on a side note, some woman happened to get her 500 ride on raptor while I was on the train), both sides of Power Tower 5 times, Mantis 5 times in the front row (4 of those rides were with just me on the train), 5 on Magnum, and 20 on Millennium Force. Now with Millennium, I got 18 in a row, but I wasn't able to stay on the train, as I had to get off at the unload station, but I was able to board the same train (with out it completing another circuit). I really wish that they still had this event, but the park does have to make money.

Yep, it was a great event. It was only advertised through the Cedar Point email newsletter. I remember hearing numbers of only 500-600 at the park on those days.

Here is a picture I took on September 13th 2000.

I really miss seeing that.

Wow, September 13th is my birthday. What a birthday present that would have been if I would have been able to go to that.

2003 Statistics
Top Thrill Dragster: 9
Magnum XL-200: 30
Trips to the point: 24

68 rides in 4 hours... That was my best..

The 22 in one night on Vertigo Wasn't bad either.. ;)

June 11th, 2001 - Gemini 100
VertiGo Rides - 82

84 rides on Magnum in one night wasn't bad either. From my understanding MM was formed because all of the locals were complaining on how they couldn't get on MF during its opening year because of all of the long lines.

You would think if they could get Dragster running smoothly that they would attempt to bring the event back this year.

The only reason they won't bring it back is becasue of everyone complaining about the no reride rule they threw into effect the last two days of last years event.

no reride rule? would that mean that you would have to get off the trian and actually walk back around throught the ride entrance again? is that really that big a deal?

I think it had more to do with the fact that it didn't make any money.

But yeah, apparently the last couple of days they did it, shortly after 9/11, in fact, when people were a little high-strung to begin with, they stopped letting people reride after allowing it the entire time. It was the rerides that made it all worth it for seasonpass holders to plop an extra $20 on the event.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

I think we all would go to it if they brought it back this year, (big hint to those at CP reading this site), with or without TTD. Those were the best days at CP, I just sat on Raptor then MF. I can't remember the exact numbers but I was in the mid 40's for rerides on Raptor, and 20's for MF. I don't think I could ride that hard again.

I would definately go again if they had it.... but I can see how it was a loss for them.... CP money wise.

It was almost better to let people reride becuase they had fuller trains that way. The only deal was if someone was waiting in your row you had to forfiet your seat... sounds fair eh?

Yep, I totally agree. It made it suck royally. Toward the end of the event we rode Mantis and were the only people on the train. When the train came back into the station there was no one waiting in the station and no one even in line or in any part of the queues. We were forced to exit the ride and get back in line if we wanted to ride again. That sucked big time! Needless to say we did not ride on Mantis again that night because if we had to get back in line everytime, I certainly wasn't going to waste my time on that for the Mantis. MF, Rapor or even PT is a different story, but definately not for Mantis.

We got in 25 MF rides that night, but some people got way more than that in. I think we got about 15 rides in before they closed the wheelchair access gates on us or it would have been more rides than that. Oh well.... I miss Millennium Mania.

Maybe we should start a petition, and agree to pay $5.00 more for a ticket so they won't lose out on too much money.
I would pay an extra 5-10 dollars for it. It was worth it! (Except when I had to work it!)

I'd pay full park admission every night if they allowed rerides for a special event.

I would be willing to pay more for the event as well. You just can't beat the number of rides you could get in during the time the event was held. Count me in on ANY petition started for bringing back MM. :)

Yeah me too - even if TTD isn't included; I'd still be willing to do it for more $$$. :)

I agree. I would pay full price, even though I have a season pass if they were to bring back MM with re-rides allowed. Being able to ride MF 20+ times in one night is well worth the money, not to mention all the other rides you could get in...
