Millennium Island Expansion

More than once, I've heard people say that they would like to see Dinosaurs Alive removed in favor of a new ride, preferably another coaster. However, the island in the middle of the park that it's located on (known as Millennium Island or Adventure Island), is already largely occupied by Millennium Force and Shoot the Rapids, so from what I can tell there wouldn't be much room to work with.

What do you think? While it likely won't happen in the near future, is it feasible for Cedar Point to put a new ride on the island? If so, what?

There is plenty of room with the island and the surrounding water for whatever they want... footers can come out of the water and or they could even drain the whole thing completely... I was suprised on how much land was there while walking through the dinosaurs.

The island used to include Iron Dragon, before Top Thrill Dragster took up residence. Actually, before Iron Dragon arrived, the Paddlewheel Excursions boats passed the Corkscrew part of the midway before rounding the bend and returning to the dock. Of course, before Corkscrew came along, Jungle Larry's African Safari was on the island.

Short story long :) the island has a long history of being changed and re-purposed, and I'm sure that will continue.

It's certainly reasonable that the park might add a ride or rides to the island once the dinosaurs become extinct.

Whatever they do on the island, I certainly hope it's aimed at the same audience as DA, rather than yet another "thrill ride aimed at teens".

I thought Terror Island was a great use for the island when it debuted. I'm hoping that it will get used for Halloweekends once the dinos become extinct again.

Its certainly been repurposed over the years, and certainly will be again...though it isn't necessarily true that they can drain much more it --- the lagoons serve as water retention ponds, otherwise the entire Point would flood like it used to in the old days...It is true, though, that there is plenty of room there to move things around, rebuild, and add another attraction ---

I agree, though, that it most likely would not be another coaster type attraction...though it could be something like an observation tower, or restaurant...or other family oriented attraction.

Terror Island ohh im getting that feeling again!!!

I know I've said it before, but I'd really love to see a GCI twister. It could weave under and around Millennium, as well as going over STR, which I actually think would improve that ride.

If they do get rid of the dinos and challenge park. They could move the go carts to the island. Could either tie in with camp snoopy or maybe ttd.Then rip cord and skyscraper can be places elsewhere in the park. That would free up room for soak city or something else.... just some ideas.

It was nice to read what you guys had to say. Thanks a lot. Come to think of it, I guess a lot of things could go there as long as it wasn't really big.

I have another question, though: would such a new attraction be hard to find/access? I mean, the entrance to Dinosaurs Alive seems to be rather out of the way (it's located near Camp Snoopy, which kind of makes sense since both are kids' attractions), and the area surrounding the island is kind of blocked off by surrounding rides. In particular, there's an area on the eastern side of the island (where MF's helix and DA's digging area is) where a new ride/attraction could go, however, across the lagoon is TTD, Mantis, and Iron Dragon.
