Millennium Island...

I was recently at CP, and was looking for the clues of the next major attraction. I read in some post to look for brightly colored objects on Millennium Island, when on the “Magnum Hill” of MF. Well, I did, and I saw the brightly colored objects. I am now wondering what those objects are. I’ve also heard of another Sky Ride type ride being stored at The Point, is that true, and could those objects be them?

Thanks!

...Interesting Alex. If I can sneak away from the DT 80 on Tuesday, I will see what I can find out :)

Haha cool, but what's "when on the “Magnum Hill” of MF. "
??

He meant to say look to LEFT while on the second hill...

mikey
Actually, it's easier to look to the right on the return hill. (more time)

Yes, it's just parts of a sky ride that Cedar Point bought from Dorney.
Are they planning on making a 2nd Sky Ride?

There used to be the Frontier Lift that went from where Coaster's is at to next to the Mine Ride. If i'm not mistaken it dissappeared in the early 80's? I don't see a clear path where they could re-build it. Where would the second sky ride go?

Every time the phrase "Millennium Island" is mentioned, I think of a tacky reality-based show...

Wow, a whole 100 laps on Gemini...Weaklings... Try 13 on Corkscrew! ;)
Screw laps: 13 and counting

The Frontier Lift was phased out in '86, as Iron Dragon was built in '87. With all the coaster hills around the middle of the Point, I don't see how they could ever put a second sky ride up again.
Not that I'm looking for ways, and I still don't think it's exactly possible, but it would be nice to have a bridge/skyride/monorail or some form of direct connection between the Gemini midway and the Frontier Trail, rather than going around the loop to Frontier Town or past the Iron Dragon/Wildcat.

Crashoverride has the idea. The sky ride was originally slated to be part od Camp Snoopy, but then scrapped at the last minute.
Crystalkat has the best idea, the need some way to be able to get from Gemini Area to Frontier Trail. When going from one to the other its a long walk

TOP 5 CP COASTERS
1. Millennuim Force
2. Mantis
3. Raptor
4. Mean Streak
5. Magnum
I don't know if anyone here has seen this former skyride in action. I was at Dorney the summer before they took it out and its highest point is about half that out of our current skyride.

Good point, Dan. It would be hard to position it correctly with that kind of height restriction.

I'm sure a skyride in that area is very possible. Many people didn't think Millennium Force would ever be put in the area it is now. I'm sure that most people were amazed at the layout when it was announced. CP can do a lot of things that seem impossible. CP is great at working with companies to create ways to fit attractions in certain areas. See how they had to make MF's lifthill 45 at degrees? That was mostly because of not having enough space for a normal lifthill at 310 feet high. So I am just saying that you shouldn't doubt CP right away. I am sure the announcements are within 1-2 months away...Maybe longer.

Does anyone have a picture of the new/old skyride in action when it was at Dorney? That may help shed some light on the issue.

Get with it or die in the process.....
They were more ski lifty then our Sky Ride. It had no floor. I don't think it stopped for passengers either. You had to jump on, like a real lift. The ride would have to stop a lot for a couple seconds if people were having trouble getting on it (happened a lot). It also had only one station. And it had the same weather system as CP's Sky Ride.

Basically the ride had it's problems. It was a lot more trouble than it's worth, and I doubt we will ever see it running at CP, whether they build it or not!
