Millennium Force wins Insane Coaster Wars on Travel Channel

MF wins Insane Coaster Wars on Travel Channel.

Millennium Force's competitors were Intimidator 305, Kingda Ka, and Diamondback

I was kind of surprised when MF won because the coasters were slightly different from each other.

Aside from that, Becca wrote on her blog that if the show goes into a second season that CP might have a new competitor to throw in the ring. lol

Favorite coaster: Millennium Force
Favorite flat: maXair

Ridden all 4 of those and MF was my fave.

I like TTD better than KingdaKa for a variety of reasons.

Intimidator and Diamondback are great coasters, but I like Nitro better.

It was Intimidator (B&M) at Carowinds not Kings Dominion. Looks like Cedar Point's Facebook page out voted the other parks pages!

Can't wait to see the banner hanging by MF soon! ;)

I've ridden all of them except Kingda Ka. Millennium is deffently the best followed by Diamondback then Intimidator. If anyone ever gets the chance, visit Carowinds. It really is a great southern park.

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

Sorry, thanks for pointing that out. :)

I think the win was well deserved. Having rode all 4 of the coasters, Millennium is my top favorite for thrills....followed by Diamondback, Intimidator and Kingda Ka.

Great Job Millennium Force! :)

I wonder how its decided which coasters are picked for each episode? They titled this one, "Extreme Heights", yet 2 of the entries were less than 300 feet. Why not pick the taller Intimidator, and the tallest B&M?

Because most people who watch those shows simply don't care.

And Travel Channel didn't want to travel to more parks than they had to.

Alot like the Golden Ticket awards, most people just don't give a rip.

Favorite Wood: 1. Balder (Liseberg), 2. Boulder Dash (Lake Compounce), 3. Voyage (Holiday World), 4. Phoenix (Knoebels) 5. The Beast (Kings Island)

FavoriteSteel:1.Expedition GeForce (Holiday Park) 2. Rita (Alton Towers) 3.Magnum XL-200 (CP) 4. Nemisis (Alton Towers) 5. X (SFMM)

I realize that 95% of the viewers probably don't know that those aren't the tallest out there, but if I were putting a show together (even if it is a fanboy, vote your favorite type show) about the tallest coasters, I'd like to think the 4 I chose to showcase were the tallest....

I do realize budgeting played a role. I can definitely see that knocking Leviathan out of the running. Nothing like an accountant stepping in to ruin all the fun! (At least that is what my wife usually says about me.....)

I have ridden all but Kingda Ka. I think they got the winner correct. Of the 3 I have ridden, I would say Millennium Force, Intimidator, then Diamondback. Although Intimidator and Diamondback are similar, Intimidator is smoother in the back and has noticeably more airtime. Congrats to Millennium Force!

Top 5 Coasters #1 Millennium Force #2 Intimidator (Carowinds) #3 Top Thrill Dragster #4 The Beast #5 X2

Coasters I want to ride: #1 El Toro #2 Leviathan #3 The Voyager #4 I305 #5 Behemoth

There have been so many of these shows done on these channels that all tend to sound like they were produced by the parks themselves as infomercials.

What I would like to see is a show based on new and different trends (and not just coasters either). What concepts outside of height, speed, and curve elements are being considered for the years ahead?

Something like X2 at SFMM is really different - especially when they add fire effects and on-board sound to the experience. Verboltan at BG has a drop track element, and Disney has coasters that seemingly dead-end and back-up. Twilight Zone at Disney has different programs that are selected at random, and some of the Harry Potter robot arm stuff is what I would like to see more detail.

The voting is the part that I find the least interesting. No actual stats are given, and I know the parks themselves ask their bloggers to vote for their entry - which really skews the results as to which is actually the best in each catagory.

By the way...

Did anyone notice that on last Sunday's show the Carowinds park spokesperson had the last name "Kinzel"? Any relation, or is nepotism an accepted norm at CF?

It is Dick's son. I believe he is General Manager, not spokesperson.

Let's Get Weird.

^Yes, Bart Kinzel is Carowinds' General Manager.

I wasn't able to watch it last night :( anyone happen to have a link to somewhere where I can see the episode?

I just checked Youtube and I can't find the episode up there yet. It looks like the other episodes are on there, so most likely the episode "Extreme Heights" will be on soon.

The Travel Channel has been repeating the previous week's episode after the new episode premiers each Sunday evening. So next Sunday--August 5--I'm assuming that Extreme Heights will repeat after the new episode Speed Demons. So anyone who missed it can see it then.
