Millennium Force Or Magnum???

CedarPointGeek's avatar

Our family is going to Cedar Point next week, and we have a problem. My mom doesn't like coasters that give you a lot of airtime, but she doesn't want to do something too scary like Top Thrill Dragster. So our question is Millennium Force or Magnum? Everyone in our family said Millennium Force. What do you guys think?

i think i would go for millennium force first. yeah, its taller and faster, but its a lot smoother than magnum in my opinion. i made all my kids ride millennium first and they love coasters now! (:

id go with millennium force, the long chain ride up on the magnum adds to the nervousness that your mother will feel. In addition, millennium is smooth, and fast up the hill, leading to a better overall ride experience. However, one hint...as you are in line, don't let you mom get fixated with the hill or watch the ride itself too much, this adds much to the nervousness, and a major reason why most ppl who are scared won't ride. Personally, I like millennium better, but magnum is a great ride too.

Well I think your mom doesn't like the roughness part that some coasters give when you reach a negative-g spot. So Millennium Force I would say since it is very smooth where ever you sit. If you pick the front on Magnum you might be fine too.

She doesn't like airtime? Millennium Force, definitely.

Raptor would be even better.

If she doesn't like air time then do not let her ride Magnum. Because Magnum is famous for it's air time. :) My sister's favorite coaster is Millenium Force. But she cannot stand Magnum. MF is your way to go. Have fun! :)

I have to agree with everyone else, Millennium force would be you best bet.

Why don't you do Maverick. It's a very fun family friendly coaster and only 105 feet.

^ Maverick is no where near being a family coaster! That 95 Degree drop is insane and the changes in directions can be very uncomfortable for people who don't like roller coasters. The stengel dives and the airtime is crazy too. I love Maverick, but in my opinion, it's one the wildest rides in the park. I would definitely recommend riding Millennium Force before Maverick or Magnum.

CedarPointGeek, your question seems arbitrary. Is your visit so short that you can only pick one coaster for her to go on? Otherwise, it's not an either/or question, it's a 'which one to do first' question.

Iron Dragon, Disaster Transport and CCMR are all air-time free. Gemini offers very little air-time. Blue Streak does feature air in places, but its height makes it less than intimidating. You could work with her on those and gradually build her up to something like Raptor or Millenium Force.

When I took my sis to CP, she was nervous the entire day to ride MF. We "worked" her way up to it. It was one of our last coasters of the night. She was upset and wished we had done it earlier in the day. Because after riding MF she felt invincible. She was actually even willing to do TTD, but we didn't have enough time.

I guess it all depends on the person. In my opinion, working your way up isn't the best way to go. Yet again, Magnum for a first coaster might be iffy. While I love it, my sister hates it. Magnum actually was our first coaster of the day. That might have been what freaked her out. But Magnum and Millie are 2 completely different coasters. MF is extremely smooth while Magnum is not. But that's why I like Magnum better than Millie. :)

She hates the swinging on Iron Dragon, and she already rides Disaster Trasport CCMR and Gemini. But this year she wants to do something big, Millennium Or Magnum. Though she hates airtime + being upside down. so im only asking whats a better coaster without a lot of air time. Millennium Force or Magnum XL-200

Well, it depends on they type of airtime she doesn't like.

If she doesn't like forceful ejector air, I'd stay off Magnum.

If she doesn't like floating air time either, then Millennium is hardly a good choice. The third hill (out to the island), the hill back and the camelback by the station all provide great air-time, but completely unlike the type of air that Magnum provides.

I'm gonna have to go with Magnum. This is because I rode it before I rode Millennium and now I'm addicted. So yeah, ride Magnum first! :)

Cedar Point Geek-- Sounds like you may have more fun if you leave your mom at home. Don't you have a cool aunt or uncle that will ride the rides without being nervous or scared.? I mean really???

How about the Snoopy coaster, or the frog hopper???

Ted, his mom doesn't like air time. So Magnum not be the best bet for her. I do agree with you though that Maggie is way better. :)

That's kinda harsh Zoe.
