I was thinking about how the park maintains the general upkeep on rides, and which rides have good/bad themes or paint jobs, etc. and thought about MF and magnum's themes. Not that they need a redo, but if you think about it, both rides basically have the same theme, just from different decades :) Magnum is pretty much meant to be a "futuristic" ride probably loosely based off star wars (80s) or similar. Kind of like the 80s version of "the future" MF also has a futuristic theme, hence the name and station/trains. Magnum is sort of in a way, the 80s version of MF. Just an observation. what do you think?
I guess I never connected Star Wars and Magnum. There is virtually no theming on Magnum, not that it really had any to start. Magnum's name came from Magnum P.I. and there was hardly anything futuristic in that old tv show. You could say Magnum is themed towards a washed up P.I. living in Hawaii in someone else's mansion, driving their Ferrari and never paying any of his bills. I guess they tried to go a little futuristic in Magnum by adding XL-200 to the end of it.

Hmm, interesting. I always assumed that Magnum, for speed and power, came from the name of a Smith & Wesson hand gun.

I miss the "space age" sound effects that used to be in the tunnels along with the fog. I'm not sure what year those went away.
"Thank the Phoenicians!"
I really didn't think either one had a theme.

I always chuckle at the notion of "theme" and why it's so important to some. Both coasters in question here have really great stations, (beautiful, some might say), but we might have to recognize that they're just nicely designed stations. Which is all we should expect at what is mostly a traditional amusement park.
And I thought Magnum was named after an ice cream bar. Or is it a measurement of wine? Or maybe a condom? Regardless, the park is lax in not following any of those themes...
If you share a sufficient number of magnum's of wine, does it make it more likely that you will need a Magnum condom?

And the chasing strobes on the lift hill!
That's a big condom....

I've never looked at Magnum or MF's (or Corkscrew, Gemini, Iron Dragon -- or Sky Ride, for that matter), station and saw a theme, just a well-designed coaster station.
Magnum's trains remind me of the 1970's Battlestar Galactica. I never gave MF a thought until it was mentioned the station was reminiscent of a toaster. Now that's all I see when I enter MF's station.

Not quite sure how you're defining "well-designed." Magnum is some stairs, a big open waste of covered space, then some queues.
Never overlook the obvious. Magnum was the first handg...er...coaster to eXceL 200 feet.
Millennium Force opened in 2000.
(and 'millennium' is spelled with two n's :-) regardless of whether the new one starts in 2000 or 2001.)

Well-designed as in, get people from the midway to the train, while being rather pleasant to look at.
I actually find Magnum's station to be one of the most visually appealing stations in the park. Not to mention how large the load side is compared to MF and TTD. The only thing I would change would be to widen the exit ramp for faster unload.
For those of us old enough to remember, Magnum didn't need a theme when it opened. The view of that massive coaster from the causeway absolutely dominated the park's skyline was enough of a statement.
Remember the slogan, "even when you see it, you won't believe it"?
