Midway Market-Not Good

Claiming that I took one for the team might be an understatement. For years Midway Market has been a staple during our stay at the Point. And after reading someone else's good experience there earlier this summer I figured we'd give it another shot. Well the price has now jumped to being $16.75 per person (we paid $14.75 w/coupon, which is still ridiculous) and we realized once being seated that several items that we had become use to seeing had disappeared. Fresh hamburgers/cheeseburgers, the taco bar (it has been gone for 2 yrs now), and pizza were amongst the noticeable items missing. The fried chicken also had a coating that tasted as if sugar had been mixed in with it as well. I realize after the fact that we should have looked around before taking the plunge, but then again hindsight is 20/20. I just thought that I'd post this not as to complain as much as I want to give others a heads up as to what to expect.

Now, we will all await Jugga (I think he's the one) to chime in on his thoughts on MM too.:)

I think the choices you like are served at the lunch buffet. I tried both the lunch and dinner buffets this year and thought the lunch ($5 cheaper) was the better of the two. I think i eat more ice cream than anything else while im in there.

When you visit CP, visit my Mill, est. 1835

That sucks it was so bad. I usually give it a try on a Friday during HalloWeekends to check out the pizza buffet, it can be decent for the price (10.95 on those Fridays - haven't been this year yet though and after enjoying other out of park pizza places I might not think it's as good this year lol)

I tried the lunch buffet in September and they had the burgers, tacos, pizza and so on. Like mentioned above, maybe lunch has the better options, or maybe they don't do all the items during HalloWeekends. I ate there closing day last year and they didn't have the burgers and tacos.

The lunch prices are OK I guess, considering it's in park, but I wouldn't go back.

We ate there between 1:00-1:15 last Saturday. If they started charging dinner prices that ealry then something is wrong.

I'm shocked they wouldn't have burgers and pizza.

Ugh yea, I read somewhere that dinner didn't start until after 3:00. That's a rip off!

They didn't have burgers or pizza (let alone carved roast beef like in previous years) when I visited earlier this summer.

That's what we thought. Then again everyone on here preaches to avoid most eateries at the park (with the exception of a few places/items) and I have to admit we expect to overpay to a certain extent, but we just thought this was excessive. It definately will make us revise how we prepare for future trips to the park. They got us this time, but in the future there will be less of our money trickling into their pockets for food. In the long run they lose.

I probably wouldn't eat there just because of the price. There is this amazing chinese buffet out by my house and it is only $9.99/person. They also serve all you can eat crab legs.

Usually I wouldn't trust to eat such a thing at a buffet, but we ate there a few times now and never had any problems.

"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"

I was at the park on Sunday, Oct. 4th and the MM advertised the lunch menu and price all day. I suspect they "up" the price for the dinner menu after 3 (or whatever time). It's probably like this on Saturdays when attendance is larger. I didn't eat there as I was with friends and they chose to eat outside the park. I don't think they feature carved beef too much anymore---seems like mostly turkey roll or pork roasts. Even during the season when the park is open daily, the menu/price changes fluctuate at the manager's whim---one probably needs a degree in quantum physics to figure it out!

For Halloweekends they are charging the dinner price for the dinner items all day. During the season the lunch\dinner switchover occurs at 3pm. Why they eliminated lunch, I don't know. Last Saturday we made sure we got to MM before 3 because I really wanted a couple of their burgers which for some reason I really love. We get there and no burgers, dinner food instead. I was quite disapointed. I prefer the lunch items, not to mention the lunch price.

Didn't they do this last year as well? Thought it had to do with their not opening until 12:00 on Saturdays. I guess they figure everyone has already had lunch by that time so who would want to have a buffet lunch. I think it would make more sense to not open MM until 4:00 on Saturday rather than have the dinner spread at 12:00.

I remember eating there, they didn't even have code red mountain dew. These was in 2004 I think, I didn't think there had a good choice of food. Everything was on little plates.

They very well may have done that last year too. It probably does have something to do with the late opening.

Hmmmm sounds like varying experiences at Midway market. I was there on Sunday, Sept 25th, and we ate at about 4PM. They had the lunch menu, and it was $11.75 per person I believe.

My family all agreed that it was actually a pretty good value for CP. The highlights for me were good fried chicken and vanilla ice cream. The rest of the stuff was what I expected...forgettable food that fills your stomach. They had all the items that the OP missed, so it's just the difference between lunch and dinner menu, along with the pricing.

I normally leave the park to eat, but I was with my exhausted Dad, and there was no way we were exiting the park. Midway Market delivered an acceptable experience, and we were able to continue our day at CP without discomfort.

Saturday at 3:30 they had the lunch menu and the $11.95 price advertised outside the Midway Market. So, now I don't know what it going to be at any particular time right know. The place was jammed with a line almost out the door. We did not go in.

Me and my friend ate there yesterday, was still $11.95,i thought it was very goood, never had a bad meal there yet.

I went there once back in 2007 and had a good experience, but haven't gone back since because the lines we're long or just didn't want to go to it because I usually hit something on the way home such as Burger King or McDonalds. If I'm in the park though I usually go to Panda.
