Does anyone know what are the ages for the child's buffet?

Children are anyone under 48'' in shoes. No really I dont know what the ages are.

I've only been there once when I was 15 and I had to pay normal price(which I'm pretty sure is $10). It might be cheaper for kids...but I'm not exactly sure. Sorry :(

But other than that, it's a good place to eat for the price. All you can eat, free refills.....now thats better than some of the other stands around the park that end up you having to pay $20+ for a meal and a drink. But that also depends on where you eat. *** Edited 4/25/2005 6:27:47 PM UTC by TTD 120mph***

If you can put up with crappy service, not-so-friendly employees and slower than turtle waitstaff when it comes to refills. I was thouroughly underwhelmed and unimpressed when I ate there last year.

I think the age is eight or nine.

JuggaLotus,

You must of went on a bad day because when I went the people there were nice and they were fast.

Oh well, one can't expect something to be the same every day. *** Edited 4/25/2005 7:23:57 PM UTC by TTD 120mph***

Actually, you should be able to expect a reasonable level of service everyday. That was one of the reasons we ate there. I had heard good things about it and figured it was worth a shot. Turns out I won't be going back.

Maybe it was just a bunch of grumpy employees on shift that day.
That is if there are different shifts for Midway Market.

I've eaten at Midway Market half a dozen times at least, and I've never really had bad service. Some service has been better than others, but I've never had anything I'd classify as 'poor service'

Me and my family ate at the Midway Market 5 times last year. I thought the service was excellent, and the food was comparable to the buffet at something like a Ponderosa. (Without the steak of course.) We would have ate there all 17 times, except last years Getaway Guide had an excellent coupon deal. Buy 2 adult buffet's, and get 2 children's free. I took (stole...lol) the coupons out of my friend's, and family's Getaway Guides to get my 5 total. We are still planning on eating there most times this year, even though this year's Getaway Guide only has a coupon for $2.00 off at the Midway Market. I guess that's better than nothing. Also keep in mind that those employee's only make something like $2.15 an hour (it states that exact hourly amount on the back of your receipt.) Once your waiter/waitress get's to know you, and the tip's you leave, you will receive EXCELLENT service. Because they know they are going to make some actual money from your table for their hard work.

$2.15 an hour! Thats just wrong! They aren't really full out waitresses. They only have to get you refills. I don't think people tip as much because of that.

Last year the children's price was for those under 10.

Okay, let's figure this one out. Let's say your server can work 6 tables refilling and saying is everything okay?. Let's figure that a meal takes about 45 minutes so you can get about 8 tables per hour. Now even if you only get tipped a doller, which you'll get unless you really piss someone off, you'll make $10.00 per hour. Now I'm not sure that if CP takes a cut off the top but it can't be more than four. Now how much more does your ride ops. make per hour? $6 something. Plus the dollar bonus that they make which I'm guessing waiters and waiteresses make anyways. So wages can't be that bad to stand in the air conditioning all day instead of burning in the August sun.

Thanks Walt, but would you have to pay for a 2 year old?

I shouldn't have to get to know anyone to get reasonable service. My tips are based on service. If I get excellent service you will get an excellent tip. If you give me ****ty service you will get ZERO tip. I hate this attitude that servers think tips are automatic. They are not. They are given for a good job and hard work.
I go for a couple trips a year. I expect reasonable, friendly service. My suggestion, get rid of the waiters/waitresses, have like 3 bus boys to clear tables. Put pop machines in the open and do it like that. Then I can refill when I need to, not have to wait to try and flag someone down.

At a full-service place, if you give me competent service and are cheerful about it, you'll get northward of 20%. If you are competent but bitter, or incompetent but really trying hard, you'll land between 15-20. (This is because incompetence is often the fault of the kitchen, not the server.) The only time I send a "message tip" of 5% to someone (and it's happened once or twice, total) is when you are both incompetent and you don't care.

At a buffet, I may scale back 0-5% depending on how much the server does. But, it's usually pretty close to the same level.

All my experiences at Midway Market were rather good. I have gone to this buffet 5-7 times last year. I like this place owing to the large choice: soup, pizza, vegetables and many other meals... I like to eat other things than fast food in an amusement park. And it is not expensive when you go before 2:00 (or 3:00) pm.

I have gone a few times over the years and have not had one good experience with the wait staff. Mostly because of what Juggalotus has said. It can't be that hard to give refills, especially on a hot day. The food I thought was mediocre at best. We prefer Famous Dave's or just recently within the last couple of years my friends and I have gone to Ryans steakhouse just down the road. (which is much better than some other ryans I have been to.) Theres better service, and you actually get steak! And we usually get a whole picture of whatever we are drinking without asking!

I did find out that children under the age of 3 eat for free at the Midway Market.

I would like to see them add self serve drinks and just have people to clear the table. I've never had bad service there, and the wait staff has always been friendly and reasonably fast. In my mind it would just be easier to get your own drink when you head up to the buffet than to wait for your server to bring you one.
