MIA/CP in one day. Possible?

So, here's the question. Do you think it possible to spend the day at MIA and feel like you did all you want to do and then trek to Cedar Point and hit a few coasters? Would you do it if you had the chance?

Hell no. That drive sucks. I won't return to MiA for a long time just because I can't stand that drive. Kara might tell you otherwise, but no thank you.

June 28th: LocoBazooka Tour (Sevendust headlining)
July 11th: Korn, Puddle of Mudd, and Deadsy

Well, after geting home from Hershey PA earlier this afternoon around 4:30 ( 7-8 hr drive), I would say it can be done, but theres no way in hell that I think I would do it. Who knows though, I've been known to do things on a whim on more than one ocation.

"Wheres the Callahan factory?!?!?"

Put on some swimwear and go do MA's waterpark already. Yeesh.

Wait a minute--you know, I've actually done things almost as crazy. Day one of the CPlaya 100 spanned 400 miles and 4 parks--but two of them were across the street from each other and the third was an hour away from the first two.

Would I do it again? Mayyybe.....but that's only because I need things to do on my 700-mile drive to CP.

It IS a pretty boring drive. Although I would think the trip would be possible, it's not one I would make. I'd rather go to MiA and spend the entire day (with major time in the waterpark) OR go to CP for the entire day.

I'm driving to Chicago from metro Detroit next week, and have contemplated making the hour detour north on the way back to hit MiA. Don't think the family will go for it tho.

It definately is not possible these days with the construction on 96 in Lansing.
I've done MiA and Indiana Beach in one day, although I was awake from 5 AM until 4AM that day. That's even more driving than MiA and CP in one day, since both parks are about 4.5 hours away from me and 4.5 hours away from each other! If you want to enjoy a leisurely day, I wouldn't recommend it, but if you just feel like dropping everything and doing something crazy (which we did), then I say go for it. At least you'll get more time at CP than we did at IB.

I did exactly that one day - didn't plan it, didn't want to, but circumstances dictated it.

Back in 2000, we were to visit MA on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, spend a leisurely afternnoon, and then hit the road in the evening for CP. As we had reservations at the Breakers for Monday, we were going to stop and grab a hotel about halfway there. However, a (fairly brief) intense storm Sunday morning lead MA to close the park for the whole day. We were less than pleased, and after much debate decided to stick around to the next day, as we felt it highly unlikely we would be in the Muskegon area again any time soon, and we were dying to hit Shivering Timbers, looming tantalizingly close just past those locked gates.

So we were at the park at opening Monday morning, hit all the big rides - with several turns on ST - and then tore down the road to CP. Light traffic + lead foot = four hours to an afternoon arrival at the Point.

Wouldn't do it again, tho' ...

Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill.

Anyone that decides to go with that plan has lost their mind!

I just returned from CP today with my daughter. I only live 45 minutes from MIA. I really hate the drive to CP but am insane enough to drive there 8-10 times per year and stay 2-4 days each time. Believe it or not I am going to make the trip again Saturday-Monday with my girlfriend. I hate the drive and could not imagine anyone wanting to make a day out of visiting both parks. My suggestion would be the same as oldcper; do each park separately! You will go insane. The drive sucks ass.

It's possible...but why? 5 to 6 hours lost riding in a car or truck when you could be riding coasters. Doing it it 2 or 3 days makes more sense.

"If we go any faster, she'll blow apart for sure!"

I did it back in '98 when Timbers first opened. I started the day out at MIA, I was there for two hours (all spent on Timbers) and on the way home I stopped in Sandusky for a few spins on Mantis.

long live the sky slide

One reason I wouldn't do it is because you wouldn't be able to get your money's worth. Spending money on admissions to both parks and then only staying there a few hours... Unless you have a season pass. But then I still wouldn't do it!

So what's better; skydiving or riding in Raptor's front seat?
