MIA Season passes working at CP

I went to MIA a couple of days ago and I noticed that the season passes there work at any cedar fair park. I looked it up on their website and found this:
2002 Season Pass.........................$90.00 per personIndividual Season Passes are good for unlimited visits during the 2002 operating season. As part of the Cedar Fair family of parks, your Michigan's Adventure Season pass is also good atMichigan's Adventure
Muskegon MICedar Point
Sandusky OHDorney Park
Allentown PAValleyfair
Shakopee MNWorlds of Fun
Kansas City MOKnott's Berry Farm
Buena Park CASeason Passes purchased at Michigan's Adventure are good for unlimited admissions at the parks above during the 2002 operating season. Season passes do not include water parks which have a separate admission fee. Passes are valid only for the person who's name and picture appear on the pass.
According to this, MIA season passes are about $10 cheaper than Cedar Points season passes which are sold at $99 a peice.

So if MIA season passes, that are cheaper than the other season passes, work at all the cedar fair parks, wouldnt this mean that the other parks that sell more expensive season passes, would loose profit?

Try telling that to Cedar Fair's earning reports. Most people don't realize that when they buy a season pass they get the other CF parks thrown in. CP can just keep their season passes more expensive because people are willing to buy them.
Besides who living many many many miles away is going to drive an extra few hours to MIA just so they can save 10 bucks on a pass?

6 Flags Kentucky Kingdom passes are 45 bucks and good at all SF parks. MM passes are about 100, you don't see people lining up to save 50 bucks and driving from Cali to Louisville do ya?

Welcome back Magnum riders how was your ride?

Not to mention I could do without the inconvenience of going to guest services every visit to get the comp ticket. Last year it took them forever to do this at both MiA and Dorney.

That's one area where Six Flags is really good. I've walked in to numerous SF parks (Great Adventure, SFNE, WOA, Great Escape) with my Darien Lake pass and they simply look at the pass, look at me, and say, go ahead. I doubt there's that many people using passes at parks other than their home park on a particular day. Why make them go through the hastle of getting a ticket?

I'm thinking about going to Dorney this Sunday, but Joe E's TR on Coasterbuzz kind of made me think it might not be worth the 4-5 hour drive. But I guess I'llhave to find out for myself. :)

Yeah, I have to give credit to Six Flags for there Season Pass procedures.

like MDOmnis, At SFoG they just looked at my SFWOA pass, looked at me, and let me through. Also, at SFGA, my SFWOA pass scanned just like it was one of their season passes.

I fool so feelish...

I agree with my CP and PKI pass its a hassle to go find guest services stand in line for a half an hour and then get my ticket so I can get in. Six Flags has the right Idea. The first SF I went to this year was SFOG so that is where my pass is from. I just go up to the gate at SFWOA, they scan it and I am on my way. One instance where SF customer service is beter then CF and Paramount. Too bad it's about the only case.

Are the other Cedar Fair season passes barcoded like CP's? (If not, why not?)

It seems like a straightforward problem to solve. Reprogram the readers to read barcodes from other CF parks, or standardize the barcoding on passes so they can be read at any park.

It would be nice to use any CF pass at any CF park and go in through the usual gate. They may not think there are enough people who'd use it to justify the expense (even if it would be straightforward & inexpensive). I'd appreciate it, so count me as a "yes".

I wouldn't give credit to SF pass procedures. The CF and Paramount way might be slow, but at least they know how much their passes are getting around, unlike SF which I doubt even knows how many people are in the park on a given day.

That's a good point. :) Obviously they don't care about the number of people that ride their coasters since they have 5 minute dispatch intervals on many of them! :(

MiA has gotten very good at processing CP season passes. It never takes them more than a couple minutes. I just take my CP passes to the pickup window and they hand me my tickets.
At SFDL and SFNE they scanned my pass yet SFGadv they just looked. Strange... Also, the quickest line at Dorney was getting our comp tickets. Go figure!

Another reason to get a CP pass over another Cedar Fair park is the ability to be in the Joe Cool Club.
I talked to a guy from Kansas City, MO yesterday at the gates before opening. He has a season pass from World of Adventure I believe it was, another Cedar Fair park. He paid 59.00 for it and got in the park with no hassle at all. Too bad Kansas City is a 6 hour drive in the opposite direction from me.
Actually, that's Worlds pf Fun...[Six Flags] World's of Adventure is in Cleveland and is in direct competition with CP...a futile competition I might add. :)

Okay, I have to say that I went to Dorney yesterday and had absolutely no problems. I walked into Guest Relations at about 9:40AM and was the only one in there. The girl wrote my name and pass info on two clipboards and gave me a ticket. The whole thing took 30 seconds max. Maybe it would suck if there was a line of people, but yesterday, it was effortless.

Keep in mind that an MIA pass isn't available with CP parking or Joe Cool. Also, CPs lost voucher policy is much better than Six Flags.
