MF will breathe new life into CP&LE...

While looking at the park map, I noticed the CP&LE railroad goes right along the edge of MF first half. Imagine riding the train, and as you go buy, you see these massive supports for the lift and second hill. Plus people can see the drop and the overbanked turn. This will make or break people's decision to ride MF without actually standing in line

The train already gets the most rides every year... I'm not sure it needs new life.

(The ride with the most rides might actually be Skyride... I forget.)

Gemini is the coaster with the most riders per year, but the CP&LE is the ride with the most riders per year, and probably per hour. Remember that the Gemini, at high capacity, can officially push about 3000 an hour (that's before seatbelts). The train can take about 360 people per ride (assuming 6 coaches per train* 15 benches per coach * 4 people per bench) X about 20 rides per hour (assuming both trains are making the half circuit once every six minutes. Therefore, you get about 7200 per hour, or about a 2:1 ridership ratio when compared to Gemini. NOTE: These numbers are only my best guess on CP&LE capacity and not fact. Oh Dave. You've probably got all this documented, right?? :)

The CP web site once had a listing of the top 10 rides, but I can't seem to find it. But, their page for the Gemini says, "For two decades, the Gemini has been the most popular ride at Cedar Point."

No doubt that the CP&LE will be somewhat of a new experience, going to frontier town anyways. Personally, I never get tired of riding through good ol' Boneville on the way back.
Scott, one question:

How many times have you actually seen the CP&LE Railroad filled to capacity?

I agree with your reasoning that it probably has one of the highest capacities in the park, but from what I've seen it's very rare for the train to be completely full even once in a day, unless CP is extremely crowded. I'm not disputing your claim about its ridership, because even half full (which is a more common scenario) it can likely hold more people than any rollercoaster or flat ride (of course not counting the other transportation ride, the Sky Ride) per hour.

In any case, the addition of Millennium Force will definitely make the ride on the train more exciting, at least for the first part, and maybe that's what the original poster meant by his statement, and that the two rides will support each other, sort of.

Not that MF will need any other support, hehe.

All I have to say, is MF will change every ride in the park! I can't wait to go on everything to see the changed skyline...even the skyride will be different looking at the giant "magnum hill" directly in front of you.

And who doesn't love passing the skelton guy humping the fence in Boneville? (Read carefully)

Anyway, I don't remember the numbers, but I do remember one of the PR people telling me it was either the train or Skyride.

Hmmmmm...I always thought Gemini was #1, followed closely by the CP & LE. Incidentally, after doing some detective work last season, I am pretty sure that the "Population" posted on the Main Midway train station is the CP & LE ridership for the previous year, and the "Elevation" is the length of the track. I could be wrong about that...

Straight from the FAQ on the Cedar Point website:

4.) C.P. & L.E. Railroad -- 2,086,079 rides
5.) Sky Ride -- 1,723,309 rides
6.) Iron Dragon -- 1,649,435 rides
7.) Corkscrew -- 1,487,893 rides

Welcome back Millennium Force riders...We all want to know how was your RIDE!!!!!
I wonder how much Mine Ride will jump up in that order with its new control system?
I wonder how long until Gemini pushes for the all-time ride record.
Gem's at 63M I believe, and the record, if I remember correctly, is 82M.
CP&LE railroad could still be higher because they only count riders when people get on. Those who stay on the ride don't get counted again.

One of my favorite parts of the railroad was the wooded area they had to take out for the MF. But hey, the trade off is worth a giga-coaster.
