^lol. The 2-rail track on Intamins is just for areas of minimal stress, i.e. brake runs, launches, loading/unloading platforms.
Or... is it?

;-)
Ive always thought that the more rails, the less support needed.
IE.. 2 railed section has more support then a 4 railed section..

..for example.

I dunno, X at SFMM has 4 rails and its supports seem fairly close together in some spots.

Of course, X's trains probably weigh 3 to 4 times as much as Intamins. Superman: Ride of Steel at Darien Lake only uses the triangle track

or the two-rail track. Perhaps Intamin didn't develop the box track until 2000. Nonetheless, I agree that with less support along the track spine, more supports are needed to withstand the loads from the roller coaster.

Yes. X went back in time and requested that Intamin design it instead of Arrow Dynamics.
wow.

I think 4 rail is stronger when it comes to weight distribution (aka long areas of unsupported low stress areas)
Then 3 rail is for areas of high stress distribution.
2 rail just sucks and can't do anything without 10,000 supports per foot.
My 2 cents

Nice mature response at the end with the 2 rail. 2 rail has a reason. Train is going 5 mph into the station, I don't think you need to waste money on 3 or 4 rail.
