Just wanted to let everyone know that at approx. 9:15 last night MF and the surrounding Frontier Trail shops (no other rides were affected) lost power. After about a half an hour of activity (evacing guests and maintenance men arriving) a blue tag told us that the ride was down for the night due to a "blown transformer." When we were leaving Sandusky after closing the power company was already there so I dont know if they fixed it or not but MF may be down for a few days.
Is it normal for transformers to blow this frequently at CP? This is at least the second to blow just this season. The first was one of the brand new ones installed over the off season, right?
My brother was at Famous Daves last night when the power went out and everyone in the restaurant got their meal for free.

I was on MF when the power went out. I was sitting in the last seat and it went out well we were on the course and when we came back to the station we had a very quick stop. So they had to evacuate everyone off the ride but the last two rows didn't make it to the emergency platform so we had to wait for them to use the generator to pull us forward. But after we got off it was nice they told us to walk over to Maverick and they would let us right on.
The marina from Famous Dave's to Millennium Force was out as well. Fortunately, it wasn't a hot night. From our hatches we saw and heard Millennium regain power at about 11:45 pm. A half an hour later we heard some power head into the boat again...the a/c fan turned on! =)
It was a nice night out though...the Hot Sumer Lights show looked great without all of the pier light distraction! =)
Maybe the transformers came from Intamin? (har har har)
They've really had some weird electrical issues this year. Hopefully they can get things straightened out.
my friends and i were about 2 enter the line for millennium force but noticed the line entrance was blocked off. were heard a couple of people saying millennium had a power failure. it was a little disappointing because 1 of my friends never rode MF at night. no big deal we just made maverick our last ride of the night. glad to hear they fixed the problem. hopefully i can make back to the park before the summer is over.
First Energy does not have a good track record this year.

They were the ones that caused the great blackout of 2003 too!

Well it was indeed open today, Sunday, and seemed to be running all day without issue. They did take a train off around 8:00 (the red one), but that was the only unusual occurrence. Nice that it re-opened quickly.
Thrills Around the Corner!
how come I'm not on wikipedia? Everything and everyone else is... btw that was an interesting article on there. Getting back to the subject: I wouldn't mind eating in the dark (famous daves) if it was for free. That must have been pretty cool.
