MF not opening on time??

I read this rumour on another web page today - does anyone know about this? The page said it was possibly due to a malfuncioning support that had to be reordered. Sounds kinda shaky, thought I would try for some feedback.

So from which site did you hear this? Tell us so we can rag on that site and laugh at its incorrect information.

Don't let them shake you up Cilegna. I don't think that has happened. I also think we would have known about it through our excellent sources here.
On CP site in the MF diary it says the project is on schedule
Cilegna,

Lets assume that the rumor is true and a support is bad. Dont you think that they can still continue work on the construction until the new support comes in?

As I see it they could install all of the track except for the area of the bad support and continue with all the electrical and other systems. The only way this would affect the schedule is when it came time to actually run the cars on the track and that probably wont happen until late February at the earliest. It could even be later than that.

I would say that the rumor has no merit.

I don't know Jeff, I heard the same thing. The site went on to report that the malfunction had something to do with loose soil conditions near the Bay. When will Cedar Point learn not to build near water? Oh well, perhaps we'll finally get that new coaster in 2001.

I heard the same thing from a security guard who works there all year round. This was about 2 months ago though, but that was not his reason. His reason was not enough time to get it ready. i don't know??

Welcome back Millennium Force riders...We all want to know how was your RIDE!!!!!
This sounds like another 'the Magnum is sinking' rumor. And since CP is on a fairly narrow peninsula, how could they build anything that is not near water?

Sorry - my post was an attempt at sarcasm. I have no idea which is the site in question.

I am with Jeff. What is the name of the site?
I seem to recall hearing that one of the track sections for either Mantis or Raptor was incorrectly fabricated and had to be rebuilt. Now I have no way of knowing if this is true or not, but if true, I think it would serve to demonstrate how Cedar Point and its contractors can usually react to such a problem. While Raptor did not operate on its opening day, the ride was complete and ready to go (and had operated, and had been inspected by the State inspectors) on opening day 1994. If the rumored problem was for Mantis:TCFKAB (again, I don't remember which one it was) then I can verify that the ride operated on its scheduled opening day because I rode it that day in the snow, along with everyone else.

It has been reported that Cedar Point is scheduled to do some presentation at COSI Toledo on March 25. I don't know the exact construction schedule, but problems or no problems, I expect that by the time that date rolls around, Millennium Force will have operated at least once.

I read the rumor here: http://www.coasters2000.cjb.net/
Again, I don't put much faith in this - I know enough about construction. Just wanted to get some feedback from someone who may actually be in the know.
I email that place 4 time saying it will open on time.

It seems to me that even if they were not able to run cars til the end of february there would still be enough time to get Millennium Force open on May 13

Not only that, but Intamin didn't manufacture the support structure. I was told by someone who knows that it was fabricated domestically.

NOt trying to sound mean or anything but this sounds like a Spanish Inquisition. For the last 25 years of going to Cedar Point, every new ride scheduled to open for it's debute year, has opened on time. And yes, this is getting to sound like a "Magnum is Sinking" episode. I'm sorry, it just kills me and makes me laugh when these rumors get spread. My apologies for my griping. This ride will still have mechanical problems just like all the other rides in the park. They'll just have to take care of them when they happen. Although, I believe on windy days, that they'll have troubles running it, unless of course, the 92 mph factor will allow it to make it over the hill and not run back down the hill.

Please wait till the ride comes to a complete
stop!
Mark or anyone else correct me if I'm wrong here but didn't Avlanche Run (gee an Intamin ride hmmmmmmm???) open late. Gemini opened late but that was due to a bad winter. Chaos also opened late as well.
