What he said about the actors. No one cares except giggly teenage girls, I think.
I don't think roller coasters are a sport, and definitely couldn't be compared with golf (which I consider [obviously?] a sport). Still cool that MF got some more media coverage, I guess.

Sports are good to watch or play. In my opinion they get your heart pumping, and keeps you on the edge of your seat because you wonder if that guy will get that big hit to score the game winner in the last at bat. Thats an example right there. I'm a huge Cleveland Indians fan, and I think Cleveland will make the playoffs. I know this is off topic, but heres my point. I wouldn't consider Roller Coasters a sport, more amusement, theme park, entertainment, fun places to go and see.

How can you compare golf and roller coasters?- Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.
Well, keeping arms and hands inside the train at all times and sounds like some rules, and I know at ValleyFair, they had a contest between about 15 people to see who could stay on Wild Thing the longest (the winner did about 1600 consecutive rides which took 13 days). Sounds like there is competition. And the way people on here post their ride stats like it means something sounds like competition too.
So, I guess by that definition, roller coaster riding is sport.

I saw that article in SI. they have a nice description of the MF, and the other coasters in there, even though it is hard to describe MF without pictures. So they Should of put a picture of it in there.

Yeah, I think I went through 2 2/3 sleeves on Monday doing 18. Lost a couple to water (thought I had the distance to clear the water and it just lost forward momentum and dropped in). I hate golf (but I can't stop playing.)

Only 2 2/3 sleves? That would be a good day for me, LOL. I stink at golf but I can't seem to stop playing, curious?

I need to get to the driving range. Still haven't straightened out my drives, and I need to get a better feel for distance on my irons. I usually over club it, and then actually get a good shot and overshoot the green. Especially on mid-range or longer iron shots. On my short iron shots (inside 25 yards) I'm almost deadly with em. I could be better, but for someone who just plays to have fun, I'm not too bad.
Where do you usually play at? (I grew up in Warren, so I know some of the courses over there)

I live Downriver, so I play, for the most part, down here, Raison River, in Monroe, Riverview Highlands, in Riverview, and Wyandotte Golf Club, in Wyandotte. My Dad was a golf course super at Baypoint Country Club, in West Bloomfield, and I grew up in a house right on the course, you would think I would be better, LOL.

Haha this got way off topic but 2 2/3 sleeves? i might lose a sleeve on 9 which it what i usually play. of course ( ;) ) it also takes me quite a few swings to get thru that.
"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"
Yeah I lost a full sleeve to water. Lost another couple to woods, and then one that someone picked up. I over shot the end of the fairway, and the way that hold is, there's a bit of rough and then another fairway. Well, my ball was just off this other fairway, and while we were playing up there, the people on that hole went by. We couldn't find my ball at all, and it WAS out in the open. Figured they picked it up or played it.
Usually I don't lose so many. I usually will lose a sleeve on 18, just had some really bad luck with the water. I had one where I hit water, and then put my drop shot into the water. So just no luck with water all day.

I lost 2 balls in the same lake yesterday and ended up with a 41(+5) and today I didn't lose a ball and ended up with a 45 (+9). Strange how the game works :)
Anyway, to keep this somewhat on topic, I remember reading (in CPQoAWP or a golf magazine) that when Roose and Legros original purchased Cedar Point in the 50's, there plan was not to continue the amusment park operation, but to turn it into "housing community," complete with golf course to be built around the lagoons twords the back. Then point is certainly big enough to place at least a 9 hole course (sky ride to sky ride is about a par 5), and i've always thought that land could make an excelent course with water surrounding, very pebble beach esque.
Thankfully, that did not happen thoguh :)

I read Cedar Point: The Queen of American Watering Places and learned a lot of neat stuff, I suggest you all read it. I'm glad that the housing development plan didn't go through because I can't imagine going there and walking the streets of a housing development and having as much fun when I walk the midways and ride kick ass rides.
Since we are all telling our golf scores, i got a 40 on a par 46, on minigolf that is. I'm not much for real golfing, I tried it twice and wasn't a huge fan. However I do enjoy minigolf (especially the one at the Challenge Park) and occassionally hitting the driving range.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Riding coasters isn't a sport? The next thing you're going to tell me is that poker isn't a sport neither. ;)
