MF and TTD Announcment Question

Did Millennium have a big announcment or did it just kind of come up without warning? TTD came without an announcment also right?? I know these questions are random was just curious.

Millennium was announced in July of 1999, very early compared to most announcements today. Dragster was not officially announced until sometime later in the Fall of '02, which was well after the tower was being built. The tower definitely was drawing a lot of speculation about what it would be by the time it was announced.

I think CP held off on the announcement of TTD purposely because they announced in the summer of 1999 that MF was going to be the "tallest, fastest coaster in the world for 2000". Japan announced a few months later that their new coaster, Steel Dragon, was in fact going to be the tallest in the world at 318 feet tall...

I didn't blame CP at all for holding off on their announcement. I would have too.....

I distinctly remember being at Halloweekends 2002 and wondering "That thing they are building there looks huge! Wonder what it could be?"

And to think... Eleven years ago this forum was convinced "Area 51" was a restaurant. How time flies...
