Mercury has called Cedar Point home for a long time. He now has a place at Town Hall Museum. This statue was one of many purchased for Cedar Point by resort owner G. A. Boeckling from the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. It had been most recently displayed at the Marina Entrance before being moved during construction of Valravn.
Curious question, if we have any mythology fans out there. How do we know this is Mercury and not Hermes?
My quick research of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, aka St. Louis Worlds Fair, shows they placed an emphasis on classic Roman style for many of the buildings and sculptures.
So we might rightly assume Mercury, a Roman god, took residence there.
Thank Jupiter!
How did that guy get in with no shirt & shoes? Seriously though, that thing is very heavy. I hope he is placed on a pedestal somewhere as he is looking downward. Saw a few people taking selfies with him.
Glad he made a comeback. Hopefully he can be properly displayed like you suggest on a pedestal.
He's a part of CP history and should get his own place with a placard maybe too, if he's not returned to in the park.

The Town Hall Museum is a good spot for him! I've always felt the Museum is a treasure that most guests don't appreciate.
I'm pretty sure the huge flower urns down the middle of the midway were from the fair, it stands to reason. And they're visible in vintage shots of the park. There used to be a figure in front of Iron Dragon but I seem to remember reading that it was taken away. If it's not there anymore then I don't know what happened to it.
Didn't Mercury reside just off The Breakers' rotunda for a long time? It seems like the hotel would be a likely place to display such pieces if they're not going in the park somewhere.

There's an article that states the other statues were melted down for the war effort.
