Reading through some of the topics on here about WWL and Ocean Motion really made me look back on the past years, and I remember the summers where I would only get to go once, and how sad I would be having to leave after a long day at the park...but how excited I would be looking forward to our "annual" trip the next year...
I know CP has changed SO much since I first started going, and I thought it would be cool to share some of our most favorite memories from over the years...
Mine will always be looking back at the lights as we drove home after our once a year trip to the point...stuffing my face full of cotton candy...

I remember my first trip back in the late 70's when Gemini opened. It was my first BIG rollercoaster and I refused to ride any other rides until I got to ride it. From that point on I have been hooked on coasters.
It is amazing how the park has changed since then. The skyline of the park as you come up the causeway is just an amazing site and my heart always starts racing as it comes into view.

I rode Gemini with my dad when I was only 4 (I've always been a huge person, lol) and loved it. Later that day, we went on Iron Dragon and for some weird reason, I got really scared and freaked out.
Weird :-/

It was probably summer of 2004 when I had my best memory. I went to the park with a friend got there at 930 am. . . we rode Millenium force and magnum so many times i could not keep track. We were so tired from riding just about everything else in the park that day except for the Dragster. so after riding magnum for the whatever time at like 11ish. . . we were walking by dragster (it was down the whole day) well it started testing at 1110. we got in line for it hoping it would open. . . it did. . . but then broke again. . then it opened. . .then broke again. . . then finally it launched and rolled back. . then they shot it out again. . . and it kept working. . . we rode it at 1 am in the morning. . . it was awesome and well worth the wait.
With 40 years of CP memories to fall back on, it's hard to settle on just a couple "bests".
Obviously the first trip ever to CP is a wonderful memory, even though Blue Streak is the only coaster I really remember at the time, and I wouldn't ride it. The midway stopped where the IMAX is now.
Then there was the trip where a boy convinced me to ride Blue Streak for the first time and my love of roller coasters began.
The 1978 trip with my then boyfriend (now my husband of 26 years) when we rode the brand new Gemini.
The 1990 trip with my son who was 4 and tall enough to ride everything, including Magnum, and hearing him say "I want to go on something BIGGER" after each coaster as we worked him up to the larger ones.
The first Millennium Mania. No words to describe that evening!!
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
I couldn't even tell you the year of my first trip. We only went to CP once every 3 years or so, with trips to GL on the off years. My earliest memory involves seeing the Jumbo Jet at the front of the park along the lake to the east, and the Sky Wheel right inside the front gate. I remember being terrified of the Pirate Ride and refusing to get on the San Francisco Earthquake(I never rode it, ever). I remember loving the Funhouse, but being afraid to ride the roto-jet(not sure what model)in the middle of the midway and was terrified of the Western Cruise, but was forced to ride it. I remember the trip back to Frontiertown on the Frontier Lift, and riding the only coaster in the park that I wasn't afraid of, the Cedar Creek Mine Ride. This was probably 1974 or 1975 because there was no Corkscrew, but the Jumbo Jet was there.

My family has always gone to Cedar Point every summer. Even my mom went every summer when she was a kid.
When I was little I was the only grandkid at the time. My uncles (I have 3) would all take turns taking me on sky slide.
I also remember sleeping in the tiny top bunk in my grandparents trailer and watching Magnum out the window falling asleep to the screams of riders.

Funny, he was exactly like that the last time I was there with him, too. :) (we started him on CCMR)
Where to start.
I have been wanting to go since my first ride on the Comet at HP. My dad always talked about MF. I saw a couple pictures of MF and it became my life mission to ride it. So my B-day comes around and I ask for a trip to CP. My dad was very reluctant but I convinced him. The day was set to 6/21-22. I had a countdown on my calendar. Everyday I waited. I was on this site and the CP site everyday. Then it came. We woke up at 5 am to beat the Philly rush and began our 8 hour trip. We enjoyed the sights of the PA TP and OH TP. We were going down Cleveland road I think and I saw TTD pop from the trees. I just yelled. I scared the crap out of my dad. It was amazing. I also saw MF pop up. It was amazing. It was just like a blue ribbon across the sky. We proceeded down the road. We went to some docks and looked across the bay and I was in shock. I was amazed I was there. I saw Millennium Force and I was super excited for tomorrow. I woke up in the morning only to be greeted by rain. Oh well. Shorter lines. We went to the park. It was farking awesome walking through the gate and into the park. We walked around for a little bit then it started to pour for about an hour. We went on the railroad and walked around a little more. My dad started to get in line for MF but I said no. We went to Blue Streak. Then to ID. Then to Mantis front seat. Pretty crazy stuff there. Then we did some other stuff blahdey blah blah. Then it was time to ride the blue monster. It was about a 10 min. wait. We got the second row and I was really getting nervous. It was the craziest and best thing ever. EVER! EVEREVEREVER!!!1111one So we did other things. Then it came the craziest storm I was ever in. From 9pm-12. We didn't want to stay in a tent so we got a mini cabin for the night. We went the next day. I got on maXair, TTD, SH, and WT which I didn't get on the day before. I also got my brother on MF and WT. No TTD, SH, or maXair for him. It also rained from 3-6 that day.
Overall, I really really really liked that place. I think I am going again next year. My favorite memory will have to be riding MF at night and sitting in the direct middle and sticking my hands up and how amazing the airtime hills were.

Yeah, seeing the park for the first time when you are a little older has got to be something. I would love to have my wife's cousin make the trip out here. She's 14 and HP is the biggest park she has been to. The only other one is Knoebels. I can only imagine her eyeballs as she sees that skyline for the first time! :)
Glad you had fun Turbo Jaw, who says rainy days are bad! :)

It's funny how things change as you get older (actually things don't change as much as your perception does), but I remember going to the park when Avalanche Run first opened. I thought it was the most amazing ride I'd ever ridden. Which is really saying alot since my family went to fifteen or twenty amusement parks every summer. Cedar Point has remained my consistent favorite park though for as long as I can remember.
My first trip in August 1993. I was scared of coasters at the time, but I tried to remain stoic as my new girlfriend led me enthusiastically to Magnum.
I still have the on-ride photo of my 'first time.' My arms are straight out, holding onto the bar on the back of the seat in front of me. The muscles and veins are literally popping out, and I have a big scowl on my face. Wow. I've come a long way, and I owe it all to her, and her(Maggie).
