Media Days Question
Not counting Millennium Force but I need the dates of all of the past Media Days. Does any one out there have that info?

Double check me Dan but I believe 98's MD was Thursday May 7th for Power Tower, and 96's MD for Mantis was Thursday May 9th...Beyond that I'm not sure...I'm gonna guess that raptors 94 debut MD was May 12th but I'm not as sure as I am above on the others...Check with Marketing to double check me :)

Opening day for 1994 was May 7th so I'm guessing the media day would've been before then. Maybe on the 5th sense that would've been a Thursday like the Mantis and Power Tower Media days fell on.

A media day is used by parks prior to the actual opening of their parks where members of the media (newspaper, tv, radio, etc.) are invited to try out a new ride or attraction.
Speaking of which, to all you central ohio people, do you remember when the Morning Zoo used to always make one trip a year to Cedar Point?

The year they built Raptor, I was running things at the station (WYHT/Mansfield) while our morning team was at the park (bastards). At the time, it's kind of odd that I never thought I'd be involved with the park as I am now. Weird.

Here is a question.
What do you need to do to qualify for media day. I write an article for our local paper, would I qualify? It doesn't really have anything to do with rollercoasters but I have written several articles about CP.

Depends on the size of your paper, whether they'd let you go, and if they get invited. I don't know the process for getting an invite, but if you are credentialed media, they'll send you an invite. The news editor would probably have to call up marketing to get one though, so I'd get on the ball with that. Anyway, Media Day is just a big day a few days before the park opens. Most TV stations have live broadcasts, and some rides are usually open for the media to ride. I really don't know which rides will be open, but I'm guessing there will be tours of Lighthouse Point this year.
Media Day for MF last year was one of the most memorable days EVER for me! Arrived at CP @ 5:30am-MF Media Day shirt-MF "ID Tag"-MF Press Release booklet-free breakfast buffet in the Midway Market-non stop MF riding from 6:30am-1pm.
Listened to the GM of CP, the president of ACE and watched TONS of live and taped broadcasts being done. Free food (lunch was at Coasters) and drinks all during that time, even free on ride photos. I was interviewed 2x for tv and 2x for some radio stations. Managed 38 rides that day-never did top that this year.
I would imagine Media Days for any other new ride would be no different - again it was without a doubt one of the most memorable days ever for me at CP. (I still have the parking pass for that day on the dashboard of my truck!!)

i just joined ace for the first time a few weeks ago, will i get invited just because of that or do i have to be some sort of staff or something?
Being a member of ACE or any other coaster club does not get you on the "invite" list.

I highly doubt they will have a media day this year. In '99 they didn't so one for the Breakers Hospital, I mean Breakers Tower. They really should have done one being they could have tied in the ten year annv. of Magnum.
