Is Cedar Point rescheduling media day or are they scrapping it since the park will be running under normal daily operations when Maverick finally opens?
In the video clip on Funcoast.com, Brian Edwards stated that Media Day has been cancelled, and would not be held this year. They will still do the Red Cross rides, but not a media day.
Yeah, but i think ,more people will want to ride it now to see what all the fuss was about.
Free? That satellite time is far from free.

Cedar Point spends a large amount of money hosting the Media Day event. The problem is that if they don't do it before the park opens, they can't really do it.
The media coverage for Maverick will suffer. I don't feel as though it would be in Cedar Point's best interest now that their new ride will be down for solid month or more. People will probably think Cedar disapPoint.
I'm sure the park will create some type of footage for the new ride and distribute it to the media. Sure it won't be live coverage from a ton of different stations. But, they would be missing the boat big time if they didn't film something and send it to the media. They may even have a handful of local stations come out one day before the park opens to film something. I'd be surprised if Maverick just opened one day without some sort of mention in the news. Just look at how much coverage there was for a delay.
I think as soon as the park gets the ride coming, they will send word out to the Media before they do the GP, and will let them know when they will be testing it and so on, just to make up for any lost publicity. I think this might actually increase revenue, if people have plans to come to the park for opening day, I sure wouldn't change them, I'd just plan another trip for once the ride is up and running.
