Media Day??

Having screwed up Media Day majorly in '07, do you all think CP is under extra pressure to get Planet Snoopy finished on time?

Will they even do a Media Day for Planet Snoopy?

I don't think Media Day was that screwed up in 2007. It was just pushed back three weeks. Might be uncommon for Cedar Point, but it's not really that uncommon for construction projects in general to run into last minute mishaps.

If Cedar Point did have a Media Day for Planet Snoopy could the reporters or whoever is doing a report even ride the little kiddy rides? I think that one of a smaller size could happen but not one of the size of a roller coaster event.

Maybe the media could bring their kids to Media Day.

If they have it a week in advance, that could actually facilitate some very good opportunities to shoot video for a commercial series that could debut by or shortly after opening weekend. I guess its a possibility, although probably not likely.

PS. I realize you were probably being sarcastic, Jason. Still though...it could be possible.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I could see the media getting more into Sky Scraper than Planet Snoopy. It would be something the reporters can ride, and be excited/scared to do. As opposed to miniature train.

I doudt that they will have a media day for this. They usually do not have anything for kiddy rides. The news media would not really be interesting in covering this anyway.

Didn't Six Flags Great Adventure have a media day for the Wiggles area thing?

Did they do anything the year Camp Snoopy opened.

And I wasn't being sarcastic. I think it would be a neat way to get some publicity.

Not to mention that the Media Day would more than likely encompass a lot more than just Planet Snoopy. Like, oh, lets see, the new ice show, the bmx stunt show, the new restaurant, Sky Scraper, and of the other hundreds of park improvements, like the season pass system change...

Just ideas that come to mind, I'm sure none of those would be covered though. /sarcasm

I guarantee they will have a media day...why wouldn't they want the publicity for their park?

Which doesn't usually open until Late June, so it's not like they could show a clip of it or anything like that.

Why would they need to? Covering a story doesn't mean you have to have a clip of everything, which is why I mentioned it. And in case you didn't know, media consists of more than just televisions stations. But of course you knew that already.

Ohh, believe me, I know a lot about the media... I worked at a television station for 6 years and even broadcasted on C-SPAN at the 2004 V.P. Debate, thank you very much. Not to mention my dad's a reporter for a newspaper, as in, not television.

My point was, when they hold the Media events, they typically discuss those things at a mere mention as it is. You make it seem like they could go above and beyond what they already do in discussing them. You can mention them, but how much detail do people really care about? Are you going to tell them everything down to the number of tables of the new children's restaurant?

But you know, they didn't do a media event for Camp Snoopy, and they can just as easily invite media in after the park opens without heavy interruption to regular operations. That's not the case with bigger rides.

And honestly, what difference does it make?

Well I'm glad your dad worked for a newspaper. I'm proud of you and your background, and I guess you made that comment assuming I have no background in journalism, in which case you'd have been wrong.

Your comment about how much people care can be applied to the millions of news stories printed every week, in the end, how many people care or even read half of them?

In my opinion, since it apparently wasn't clear the first time, I feel that a media day similar to Maverick would be justified this time around, because even though there's not a 500 foot ultra-extreme 100 inversion rollercoaster being built, it seems clear that the park really wants to boost the family side of the park, and a media day would certainly help that image, especially since there are so many people out there that don't go to Cedar Point because they feel the park doesn't offer enough for kids, and with all the the new shows and attractions being added, a media day would certainly be justified, although ultimately up the park as to whether or not they want to host one.

Finally, it seems plenty of people here have supported the idea of a media day, even though yes, we get it, Camp Snoopy didn't have one. You can move on now.
