Mechanical Problems

Does anyone know what the problem was on opening day soon after the park opened? I was next to ride when they had to temporarily shut it down and test it a few times. I still rode it though. Thanks.

What row where you? I was the last to ride before it shut-down. I was in row 8.

It was likely the same kind of problem every other coaster has. The computer thinks something isn't right and they run some test trains.

That's so true - probably at least half of mechanical shutdowns are for exactly that. Especially on Magnum when a bird decides to sit in front of one of the photo cells. In fact on the log down in the electrical room, they log the alarms that occur. Most of them are liek "P53 check sensor" and then "bird" in parenthesis or something. :)

I understood it to be a slight braking problem. The train was slipping up the back tower slightly, then rolling back into place instead of stopping in the station. They shut it down, ran a couple test trains, then opened it. When it opened, the train no longer slipped up the back tower

I saw at least one time where they had to reset and jog the train because it wasn't parked where the computer thought it should be.

Other Intamin LIM coasters have had this same thing in the past.

Remember there is a light curtain in the station that will shut the ride down in a heartbeat if something enters the launch corridor. Birds, large insects, etc could easily cause the ride to abort. Mufflehead season awaits!!!
