I was wondering how CP manages replacing the wood on Meanstreak (or any other park replaces wood on a coaster). Do they do this on a set schedule or by a need by need only basis? Do they do a whole section at one time or do they replace set number of supports each year, so that they are not rebuilding a whole section of the coaster at a time? From what I understand, when they retrack a coaster, it is all at once.
Thanks in advance
Gemini, for example, has been undergoing a multi-year total wood replacement. Some wood replacement is scheduled, some wood replacement is as needed.
Retracking doesn't ALWAYS happen to an entire coaster at once. Say there's a rough spot that shows up in the middle of Mean Streak (Hard to imagine, I know) but the rest of the ride is fine. Why would you bother retracking the entire ride when you can just work on that section?
Wolf Kabobs at Geauga Lake was not only half-retracked, but the upper portion of the structure was replaced as well It's a night-and-day difference compared to the second half of the ride, which has such a ridiculously sloppy track gauge that the trains just bounce all over the place.

I was amazed myself at the difference some new tracking made for RWB. I can't wait til next year when the rest of it is retracked.
