As many of may have read in Screamscape, CP is rumored to be interested in the Intamin technology used in Colossos.
Question is, would it be possible to refit the Mean Streak structure with Intamin's new woody technology? Use the current structure, but replace the track and trains? It kind of looks that Colossos is just a bigger Mean Streak.
A lot of people have discussed tubing MS, but retrofitting it with the Intamin system would keep it a woody!
E
not too mention it would be a lot smoother, but if its smooth its not a real wooodie.
Anyone care to explain the "intamin system" I keep hearing about?

While I don't know how exactly the Intamin technology works, Collosos really isn't a bigger version of Mean Streak. I believe it is huge drop, airtime hill, twisting drop to turn around, hill, helix, a few more hills, and a turn to take you in the station. That is a VERY rough way of putting it, but I know it is more "out and backish" then Mean Streak's circular layout. Hope I can help! Anything to save the Mean Streak!
Each piece of track Intamin installs on it's woodies are pre-manufactured and given a code before being put into place. Therefore, if the park foresees a possible problem with a particular piece, they can notify Intamin of the piece (by code) and then Intamin re-manufactures it and send it to the park to be installed the very next day.
A quite speedy and nice way to do maintenance on a ride if you ask me.
Does anyone have any pic of the Collosos? I looked online and couldnt find any...

Steuks!!
Apparently their beams aren't the standard 7-layered 2 x * beams, they are a glued microlayer construction that's milled to size.
I still want to see how well they last.
If new track will allow them to remove the brake on the first hill, I say go for it. While they are at it, I think they should add some tunnels. It would be easy to enclose some of the turn around track, making the ride a little more interesting.

Throw in that helix at the end that was rumored to be in the original plans too.
Maybe this is what the wood in Gemini is for???

A helix would be nice. And then they can add some air-time hills. Maybe they can stretch MS into the worlds loggest wood coaster. Probably not, but we can always dream :)
