Last summer I went to Six Flags Darien Lake. As everybody knows, it's an awful park, so just please don't ask why I went.
At the park, there is a wooden roller coaster called The Predator. Now, I've never been to Cedar Point, I'm going for the first time on July 21st, but I see a lot of people in these discussions talk about how rough of a ride Mean Streak is. If anybody has ridden both of these rides (Predator and Mean Streak), can you just compare them in roughness, because if Mean Streak is anywhere near as rough as Predator, I'll stick to admiring it's beauty. Thanks.
Predator still has the PTC trailered trains on it, I believe. That in itself makes it worse.
Mean Streak isn't bad, just ride it in the front if you're that scared of it hurting you.
How about comparing Mean Streak to other Dinn/Summers coasters besides Predator? I've never been to SFOT, but MS's smaller brother Texas Giant seems to get nowhere near the complaints of extreme roughness that MS does. And I for one love the Curtis Summers designed Timber Wolf at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City. I know Hercules at Dorney got razed because of roughness and low ridership. How about rides like SFKK's Thunder Run or SFOG's Cyclone? Timber Wolf is the only other Dinn/Summers coaster I've been on besides MS, so I would like to know other people's opinions of other Dinn/Summers coasters.
Thunder Run is pretty kick ass. Wolverine Wildcat isn't too bad, either.
Then again, I don't find Mean Streak to be rough.
The Beast, however... that's a different story.
Have you rode Wolverine Wildcat this season?
Ouch...
Timbers is actually starting to get rough as well... In some parts its actually rougher than Mean Streak... luckily ST is a lot more fun!
Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004
See, I never liked Timbers. It was OK, but nothing special.
I'm more of a ran of rides like Holiday World's, I think.
I live in Rochester NY and SFDL happens to be my home park. :( But really they aren't that bad. Anyways I have been on both many times and can tell you MS is not rough. OMG!!111 he just said that. Well it isn't after you have been on Predator. I actually really like MS because it gives a nice long ride. ;)

101 on Magnum and counting...
Thunder Run at Kentucky Kingdom is a great little coaster. I would go back just to ride that ride.
Also when I have found for me the best seat on the MS is the front seat back car. Not rough at all. Keep off the seat back and don't hang on. The trick to MS is to just allow oneself to bounce around in ones seat like a pinball.

I don't find The Beast to be all that rough, but Son of Beast on the other hand, you couldn't pay me enough to get on that concussion machine again.

Once again, the 2 posts that said "Thunder Run at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom is good" should be an indication that there is a good Dinn/Summers coaster out there.
Texas Giant by all accounts i have heard is also a winner.
Mean Streak is a good ride, it just isn't running as well as it could.
I've ridden Texas Giant over 50 times and it is very good. Sometimes it's rough, but there is tons of airtime and most of the time it's a walk-on.
New Season of 'The Office'. TONIGHT!!!

I don't find Son of Beast rough at all. I love it.
As for Texas Giant, isn't Mean Streak a clone of it?
