I think that its possible, but why would they do it. If they did it would not be a wooden coaster anymore.

I think a good solution for mean streak would be to change the ride dramastically. ALA Steel Phantom @ Kennywood.

They could change the parts of the ride that need to be done. Parts that severly damage the structure of the ride when the trains roll by without those trim breaks....

So when those sections are redone, they could simply remove the breaks, and make a really awesome ride.

Mean Streaks Revenge.... I like it!

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?"
Better yet.... tear it down completely and get a CCI racer. It would get rid of the problem AND up the coaster count!!

Anything is possible, but I doubt that you'll see that option implemented.

What I want to know is, when are they going to install soft seats? That would make a HUGE difference in the ride.

Trivia: I can think of ONE coaster where tubular steel rails were installed on an older wooden coaster when that coaster was remodelled. Anybody else know what coaster I am thinking of? Would it help if I told you the ride was originally designed by John Miller?

Ok, so you put steel track on Mean Streak.....lets just take the whole "mean" right out of the name then. Come on people....honestly now, people know the ride is going to be a little shaky, but it obviously isn't that bad or else people would stop riding it! Mean Streak is an awesome piece of work that needs to be left as it is.
One has to believe ridership is quite low on Mean Streak. The question is at what point does the lack of popularity become overtaken by the cost of maintenance? If it no longer brings people to the park, does it still have value? I have to agree with RideMan, soft seats would help, but would it save the ride?
I think it would be difficult to make something like MS revenge cuz MS is very big and I think it would be hard or it would take a while to take a woodie apart and do it differently or recreate parts of the ride and add different features. I would like to see them tear it down *BUT* rebuild it using new everything and making the same coaster but designing it better so there aren't so many problems because if u think about it-- it is a good coaster it was practically the best woodie when it opened in most peoples minds so I think that would really be neat to see that happen.
Well, it was rumored to originally end with a giant helix--which is why there is such a huge infield. Still waiting close to 2 hours in august, is hardly a loss in ride attendance.
Also, just because the lines are usually short (~30 minutes or less) doesn't mean it's not moving tons of people. If the queue is ALWAYS a 15 minute wait, there's the same amount of people being loaded on as if it was always a 3 hour wait...remember that. It's just just that people don't wait as long. I bet the ridership is really not particularly low.

According to CP's web site, Mean Streak is the 10th most popular ride in the park, with 1,137,143 riders. So I wouldn't say ridership is low!
I'm a MS fan myself, but playing devil's advocate here, yeah its 10th in ridership, but what else does it compare to other than coasters? The only reason that it's still on the list is because there really isn't anything that can overcome it due to the amount of passengers it can move. Even the Corkscrew and the Iron Dragon gives more rides. Actually, if you look, all but 2 of the rides are coasters. The only ones not on there is the Mine Ride, DT, BS, GemJr., WildCat and WSExpress, and you know that they have to have equal to or better ridership than the majority of the 68 rides there. By the way, long live the MEAN STREAK!!

Maybe it's just me, but Mean Streak is not that rough of a ride. I usually ride towards the front of the train, however. As much as I love Gemini, one ride is my limit anymore. The pounding gives me a headache. Breaks my heart because I used to wear it out when I was younger. : )
I say TUBE IT!!! Either that or watch itself shake itself apart in a few years...everytime i been to CP there has never ever been a line for this coaster..we always were able to just walk up and right on MS. Its a beautiful coaster and it was great back in the day..and Id feel bad to see it changed..but to me its just a waste sitting there with less and less people ridding it each year. IN MY OPINION...not up for debate..lol
I'm disappointed in you folks. A week ago, I wrote:

...and not one person identified the ride as the Seabreeze Bobsleds.

Did it help?
Rideman:

I've been waiting eagerly for the answer and no, it didn't help to tell me that the ride was originally designed by John Miller! :)
I don't think they need to do all of that. Get CCI to just add their track and their trains.
