Mean Streak SMOOTH!?!?!?!

{{{tnioPradeC}}}'s avatar

I rode the Mean Streak with a friend a few days ago and maybe it was the weight distribution the wheels the track or what ever but by some miracle of God Mean Streak was smooth. Very smooth like buttered steel no joke the ride also seemed to be running at a better pace. Any who the ride was actually enjoyable and fun even. So do you think it was luck a combination of good things or have they finally given it the kick it needs to run right?

Wicked Twister is the child of Mean Streak and Gemini. Get it?

Did you sit in the front?

I think it's all of the extra question marks and exclamation points that make it true.

Yeah, that's the only place i've ever even had a remotely decent ride on Mean Streak.

The front seat is actually pretty smooth on Mean Streak. But it also provides a very dull ride experience.

Very dull? As opposed to the other "simply dull" experiences in every other seat.

It's smooth in the front, just don't lean your whole back against the seat back. :)

^^ Yes, very dull, compared to the painful ride experience offered by some of the other seats.

I think the back is an RIDE AT OWN RISK sign : ) . But I know all rides at Cedar Point are ride at own risk and have many warnings on signs. I knew someone would say it, so I had catch myself. The front seat is the one and seat I will ever ever sit in and I think the ride is very enjoyible except a few time. (but every coaster has their days)

It was luck. Next question.

Speaking of Mean Streak, do you think this retracking with be the only thing new for 2009? I know it would certainly be enough for me by a long shot, just curious if anyone's heard anything else.

Well, if they are indeed re-working Mean Streak, I would guess that, along with some more general improvements around the park, would be it.

If something along the lines of a new ride were coming next year, I would have to think that some type of marking, etc. would have been discovered and/or hinted at by now.

Maybe a much need renovation of the Bon Air section at Hotel Breakers? If MS does get retracked, I surely hope they finish it all at once.

I hope they fix all the lighting throughout the park too

Do we really want it retracked? Seriously think about it. Spending all that money (I'm guessing about $2 mill?) on retracking a ride that sucked when it was new. (From what I'v heard because I don't even think I was born yet.) Why not spen a little bit more and get a nice smooth GCI that we know wont suck when it opens?

Uh, the ride is retracked on almost a perpetual basis.

^^ I was a huge fan of MS in the 90's when the ride was rather new. It wasnt 'til the early 2000's when I started to pull away from the ride. Reworking the ride would be great for it, I would imagine.

I dont know enough about wooden coasters to know what type of "re-working" would turn MS into something I would ever want to waste...I mean spend my time on again. What exactly could they do to it? (since "retracking" doesnt seem to be it?)

I think it has more to do with it other than the track itself. Maybe the banking of the curves, or the wood underneath the track itself.
