Mean Streak rollback M 8-27-01

At 4:30PM today, a crane was taking off the last of the gold colored cars from a Mean Streak rollback.  Noticed this from the CP&LERR.  I thought it had been quiet in Frontier Town!
The train had just gotten its picture taken, and must not have made it up the second turnaround by the station.  I wonder if the train got its picture taken over and over again as it slowed in the dip.  Ha-ha!
Did anyone else see this today?

Crap! If I would have stayed at the park an hour longer I could've seen it. Just my luck.

Maybe the train isn't going FAST enough to get it to complete the course.

What I would have given to be on that when it happened...

I bet the first drop trim brakes were set too tight. If this happens too often, maybe CP will remove the brakes?

We were back there around 7pm or so and it was running. Didn't see anything that would make you think anything had even happened.

Dan, I think you're asking whether the rollback occurred with passengers...don't know.  They were just about to lift the last car off of the track when we went past.  We had to be somewhere at 5PM, or else I could have gone back and taken pictures.  Talk about frustration!!!

There were no adverse weather conditions at the time that I was aware of.  No gusting winds or rain.  Interesting.

You're right, Walt...they have a way of tidying things up that makes it look like nothing ever happened.  I'll never forget the look of that car in the dip and the workers with the crane.

But the question is, was anyone in the train?

I can remember the last two times Mean Streak rolled back.  One was the day after Coastermania 1997 (was that right, Dan?) during morning testing. Get this, the gold train didn't make it up to the first lift turn so, get this, it valleyed in the same spot as yesterday.  Chalk that one up to tight trims and tight train.
The second rollback I remember was 1999.  I believe it was a loaded train that didn't make it to the midcourse thanks to a seized wheel.  If I'm wrong, will someone please correct me.

Well,at least you can't blame me for it!!! I haven't been around!! LOL
Can't people get hurt from this? It seems like this happens every season. Get rid of those brakes!
How could people get hurt from this?

It would be just like a ride on Superman: UE, except while going back and forth in the valley, you would decelerate instead of accelerating.
