MEAN STREAK QUESTION

ok I have a question why does the mean streak keep going slower and slower everytime I go to the point they always have a slower time for the mean streak.

Its getting older and older so they have to be more carfull
Those brakes on the drop take a lot of the mean away... But the crews seem to be pretty good. A lot of people don't know how to ride MS, so they can take a beating. I think load times suffer fro mthem crawling out of the trains.

On another note, does anyone think they will drop WT from CoasterMania and add Mean Streak again? Riding that in complete darkness makes up for the fact that the only air is the drop before the MCBR.

I own you!

Mean Streak, like just about every other coaster in the park, is affected greatly by the weather. If anything, MS is more vulnerable to the weather. Meanie runs best when its not too humid, but not too cold. Too much humidity causes the tracks to get somewhat sticky and that slows down the trains. The cold affects just about every coaster. The colder temps reduce the amt. of heat on the wheels so there not going as fast. Also, the slower ride could be because of the dreadfull trims at the top of the first drop.

My personal advice, to get a really good MS ride, ride just after some rain when the tracks are wet and/or ride first thing in the morning or late at night when the trains have more empty seats. If the train before yours was practically empty, chances are that the trims on the drop will not be on very hard. One other note, to get the most out of Mean Streak and get that out of control traditional wooden coaster feel, choose a middle seat (car 4), that is where you will be tossed around the most. Hope this helps!

I seem to be one fo those people! Mean Streak was not my fav ride last year! How do you avoid getting a beating?

Most people who complain end up bracing themselves against the back of the seat. DON'T DO THIS. Pull yourself off of the back of the seat. It ends up being a smoother ride if you leave space between your back and the seat backing. I found it to be smoother in the back than the front, though.

The only time I've ever had a problem with Mean Streak was when I rode the front seat at night...it was slower than usual. But other than that I've had no problems riding it, not to rough and nice speed (Might have to do with not holding on while riding, and trying to get the last couple of cars). Last year, it was warm, no humidity, and it was quite smooth for a wooden coaster.

Metallica, Magnum and Mountain Dew, and finally turning 21...what could be better?

I think that the back seat, or at least the last car is the best place to sit on this ride because of the first drop trim brake. If you're sitting in or near the very front of the train, that trim brake makes you feel as if you are going to stop just before you begin to pick up speed. However in the back, the trim is hardly even noticeable. You'll hear the air pressure as the trim grips the bottom fin of the train, but you'll barely feel the effects as you would in the front.
I really wish people wouldn't bash Meany. The only time I don't ride it (or any coaster) is when I have a headache. In my opinion, the top of the lift hill is one of the best spots in the park.

I am extremely sorry if this offends anyone, but Mean Streak is boring. And the slower it gets, the more boring. I think if they gave this ride a brand new track, new trains, and removed the brakes, this could become a classic woodie. The layout is good.
I agree with Joe. For a really good ride do not lock yourself into the backs or the side of the seat. Ride loose and let your body flow with the "bumps."

I fool so feelish...

But there is also something to be said for not having to adjust yourself to get a good ride. Mean Streak is a pathethic example of wood right now. Although tearing it down isn't neccesarily what it needs, the ride needs to be overhauled. New trains, completely retracked, maybe even steel supports. Something to get the ride back to it's '91 glory.

There is a SEVERE LACK of airtime on so-called "Mean" Streak even on day one in 1991. The MCBR was on hard an heavy back than. CP REALLY need to build a woodie with these records:

Outdo Balder's 70 degree drop with an angle of 72 degree or steeper.

Outdo Shivering Timbers 30+ seconds of airtime.

Outdo SOB's height of 214 feet.

Outdo The Beast's length of 7400 feet.

And finally have no one other than Intamin build this wooden monster!!! Otherwise it would be crap like Mean Streak!

I disagree with at least a few of the items on your wish list. The best wooden coasters I've ridden have all been mediumish or smallish in size. Woodies don't have to be tall to be great! Look at Ghostrider at KBF or the Thunderbolt at Kennywood. Neither are particularly tall, fast, or steep, but both are great rides.
If you ride S:ROS @ SFNE on the first drop in the FRONT seat you will see why I want such a HUGE Intamin woodie with such a HUGE STEEP first drop. I was told by more than one source that the WHOLE train including the FRONT seat has airtime on the FIRST drop. Besides Intamin giant plug n play woodies are smooth enough to ride over and over again. There need to be a woodie with more airtime than Shivering Timbers and with ZERO dead forceless hills. Maybe not the tallest but the most important record in the world is to break the total airtime from Shivering Timbers and have 100% of the hills give airtime in 100% of the seats of course having the most extreme in the front and back but a least a float in the middle. Is that impossible to do? Besides CP is all about records so I don't think they will build something as small as Ghostrider as good as it is! Also why can't you have your cake and eat it (Giant record breaking woodie with super high quality #1 ride experience)?? Heide Park's Colossos have accomplished that!! Now it's CP's turn. Forget about SOB @ PKI being too rough for CP to try to beat! SOB is NOT an Intamin Plug N Play woodie with the new track system! People seems to forget that when I ask for the world's BIGGEST BUTT KICKING woodie. I am NOT talking about a giant kiddie woodie like Mean Streak either! I am talking about an Intamin airtime machine made of wood!!! You can NOT build a successful record breaking woodie using the older style methods! It must be an Intamin system to work!

Its ok to hit enter every now and again...

But I agree that a good wooden coaster with lots of air time would be really nice right now:)

No Kevin Dreyling! If CP got what you wanted, then too many trees would be cut down. Save the Rainforests!

Since when do they use trees from rainforests?

The best thing about Six Flags "Worlds of Adventure" is that Cedar Point is nearby!
They could always have steel supports.
