When did the lightning disappear on MS trains? Was this due to the new retractable seatbelts? I didn't get a chance to ride, but the trains just didn't look the same without the lightning. I believe the same thing happened to Corkscrew a few years back when those trains were refurbished and the decals on the front never returned. Oh well, I hear MS is running better than it has in a long time, so i'll take that over decals.
I think CPCyclone may have been referring to the white lightning bolts that were along the sides of the trains. In the blog photo, it appears that they are indeed gone.
Pics on rcdb show the lightning bolts in pics dated 2005, if that gives you a clue. I am not sure myself, since 2005 was the last year I was there and I didn't pay much attention to MS. It all went downhill with the add of the breaks on the first drop.

I did go on Mean Streak on sunday and the lightning bolts were gone. The trains seem so plain without them.
The absence of the lightning bolt decals is a clear indication
that Mean Streak won't be around much longer! ;) Setting all jokes
aside, the trains would look pretty cool if the put new lightning bolt
graphics on, but made with metallic and/or reflective material!
What? They're gone.. mad.
Thats what makes me ready for "Mean Streak"
Mean.. Streak.. sounds like a lightning bolt onto itself.
Cedar Point is undoubtedly amazing.
Does anyone have a picture of the trains without the lightning bolt on them?

Mm, that makes me sad. Letting one or two of these little details go doesn't really matter and isn't really noticeable. However, I really do think that all the little things like that do a lot for the atmosphere of a park though, and are very important as a whole.
People say Mean Streak is running better at the opening of every year, I sure hope is stays that way this time! :)
Summer was made for a Cedar Point day~
^I already asked that and CedarPointGeek was nice enough to put it up....
It's about five posts above mine...

Your Welcome! ;)
See, I prefer it to have the bolts. It just isn't quite the same ride as it was before without them...Ahhh, memories! Hehe.. :)

I'm still waiting for them to restore the graphics on the front of the Corkscrew trains.

Its just a logo. Thats it. I really dont think its anything worth worrying about. Especially after the ride that I had on it today. Trims on the first drop seemed to be set extremely light.... combine that with the rainy conditions and it was the best ride I have had in MS in years.
