Mean Streak is Meaner than EVER/Nurses Station Roc

Bummer... my daughter rode the Mean Streak for the first time yesterday (June 1, 2002) and halfway through the ride I looked back (she was riding with her friend)...and she had tears streaming down her cheeks. I yelled back to her "Are you ok?" She cried "No...my back!" Then we came to the middle of the ride brake area...I so wish I could have stopped the coaster and helped her off!!! Nope, she had to ride the rest of the Mean Streak out. We went to the nurses station and she got some aspirin. My son had been in earlier because of leg chaffing so we are getting to know the nurse well. She gave us all "Pop Ice" things and sent us on our way.

Way to go ER at CP!!! ::smile:: You guys are great!!! Stop by and say "Hi!" to Becky if she's not too busy! She's the best! Mean Streak....well.... it might be a while before my daughter tries THAT ride again!

You should have told her not to lean back against those seats. They are the devil. Every single bounce and bump the train goes over is sent straight to your back. If you ride it again, lean forward and don't touch the back of the seat and you'll have a painless ride.

The only way you can ride Mean Streak is to keep your back off the seat, start to finish. It's not worth the spinal trauma.

I'm really not too big of a fan on Mean Streak. The trims on the drop get me every time. It's one of the bad group of wooden coasters I've ridden. Though if offered, I probably wouldn't pass up a ride on Mean Streak unless I was tired or was injured in any way.

Laura, I was at CP on June 1st as well and let me tell you, I had a rough ride on Mean Streak as well...I don't know if it was running rough on that day only but it was pretty bad...I even kept my back off the seat because I am fully aware of what it can do to your back....but when I got off the ride, I had quite a splitting headache and I didn't even hit my head on anything....My girlfriend experienced the same thing as well...We have ridden the Mean Streak numerous times in the past and this is probably the worst ride on it that we can remember....It really put a bummer on the rest of our day because we didn't feel to good...We might have to skip it next time, but it was unbearably hot that day so that might of played a factor in making us exhausted as well....I even have the sunburn to prove it...I'm not trying to bash Mean Streak because it is quite an enjoyable ride, but it does give you quite a shake and just wanted to let you know that your daughter was not alone....However, Raptor flew quite nicely on Saturday and my girlfriend and I took three rides on that...Hope this makes you feel a little better Laura

I wish CP would put some nice, thick padding on the seat backs of those trains. It would do wonders for the ride.

It was great 2 weeks ago with no trims and a fast smooth and airtimey ride!

I was there 5/31, and I got some nice air and laterals on MS. It was a great ride.
