Mean Streak

What to do with Mean Streak & the area around it. My wife & I love the ride, even though it's very shaky. We noticed that hardly anyone goes back in that area of the park anymore. I'm not suggesting they get rid of Mean Streak, I just think they need to make some changes to that area of the park to draw people back there. Maybe they should've put another coaster back there. Maybe they should put some of the simpler rides like Troika & Chos back there to get more people to come there. The shooting gallery & video games aren't bringing people back there. They need to have more than just the Mine Ride & the Log Ride. Any thoughts from anyone out there?

Another coaster, more flat rides, add more to the theaming of the area and just plain old spruce it up. besides I will get so mad if they get rid of Mean Streak it is one of my favorite rides in the park.

No such luck w/ Troika & Chaos... they're going by Wicked Twister. But I definitely agree with you on needing to spruce that area up. You just have to think that's where they're going to focus their devlopment wands next.

WT Count - 5

I know that Troika & Chos are near WT. I was just using those as an example.

I thought they were going to change the Mean Streak area a couple years ago & all they did was add those cabins.

I remember when I first rode Mean Streak. The wait time was about 1-1 1/2 hrs. Now you can just walk on,which is fine with me. Heck, when they added MF, my wife & I were able to walk right up & on Magnum. Besides I don't like long lines, but, will wait for a good one, like MF & TTD. By the way. The absolute best time to go to CP is early to mid May during the week. We went the last 2 years at that time & rode MF several times without more than a 15 min wait.

Whats wrong with part of the park being less crowded? Sometimes you want to escape the large crowds and just chill. Mean Streak isn't what it used to be but it gives Cedar Point some variety. Also, Mean Streak is one of those rides that don't end before you let out a scream. Take the ride for what it is.

Also, even if they did build a new wooden roller coaster back there, people are not going to flock there. Cedar Point said they would never build as high as Mean Streak so do you think the General Public is going to say, "Lets pass up the 420ft, 310, 205 coasters and ride the 125ft one."...well I doubt they will know the height but you know what I mean. I love the area in the back of the park.

This subject has been debated to death. Why does it keep keep coming up?

Mean Streak reflects it's name. Deal with it.

Ya know my $$ says you can probably find a gazillion threads over the past 5 years that asked the same question :) I remember back in '99 I asked a similar question and learned quickly of the "search" option!

People's opinions and ideas are likely to change or develop over the years. There's nothing wrong with starting a new topic. :-)

The WEAK streak! Man, i hate to dog on this ride. It is indeed a monster, but nonetheless, well, it just seems she lost her steam. i had a dream once. i 's--t' you not. i was oiling the track -Geno- style, hanging out the front seat! The catch was, i had to get the job done before the maintnence crew got word. -wacky dream'n :)

So do you think oiling the track would help? Cause if she made it around those corners a little faster, and over those bumps a little quicker. you'd have one dusi of a ride!

520, 500+, 160. prepare.

I remember a few years back where the train felt like it was going to stop on the second turn. It was really dissapointing because it is one of my favorite rides. And about two years before that my best ride ever was at the bottom of the first hill the train and track were so rough that the train actaully was slamming up and down on the track so severly that all i could think was we are going to derail! My insides actually hurt getting off of the ride but it was still the best ride i EVER had on it! :) BRING IT BACK TO IT'S GLORY :)

It's amazing to me that people think the general public only wants tall and fast rides. Most of the general public I talk to in or out of the park will tell you Raptor and Magnum are their favorites, hands down. Those rides are not the tallest and fastest, but they have substance to them. How can you not like air time to the max or 6 inversions? These tall rides are great, but the taller they get, the simpler, and the rides lose alot of substance. (cough, TTD, WT, cough)
I beg to differ on 1 thing. Wicked Twister might be a simple ride, but, it's a great one. It would be boring if it didn't have the twists on each tower. I loved it. I'm sure TTD will be great too. The whole idea of these tall & fast coasters is to appeal to everyone out there. I love Raptor & Magnum too. I love all the coasters. I bet there are people out there that love all coasters, but, show more enthusiasm for these tall/fast ones. That's because these tall/fast ones are thrill rides & get the adrenaline pumping like no other ride does. People also like to ride these rides so they can say the conquered the fear of riding it. Everbody has their favorites, but, I bet they still really like those tall/fast ones too. Everybody has their own opinion though. This is mine on that. Thanks for yours CPcyclone.
By looks, WT appears simple. By mechanics, WT is even more complex then some of the larger coasters at the point.
