Mean Streak.....

Anyone that rode Mean Streak this weekend, was it any smoother this year, I did not get a chance to ride it cause I ahd to work all weekend???
It's not any better, or any worse than it was last year. If it got re-tracked, it wasn't highly noticeable.
It was absolutely creeping out of the station. I have no idea why, but it certainly wasn't normal. We rode back car and had a great time. I feel it in my lower back today, as a matter of fact.

I noticed that too how it would creep out of the station and then the controls operator would have to "reset dispatch". The back of the train is always the best seat on Mean Streak since it is there that you won't nearly feel the effect of the trim brake on the first drop.
On Easter Sunday I tackled Son of Beast for the first time. I have a new love for Mean Streak now. On MS its the kind of rough that I can laugh about while riding it. On SOB it was the kind of rough that just makes me hang on and keep telling myself that it will be over soon. PKI was empty that day and I'm sure I could have got on "Sonny" at least twenty times. I rode it twice. Once too many. I'm not an expert but I am astonished that it runs everyday like that and it's still open.

Yeah I felt the same way about SOB! It almost hurt, lol! But MS hurts pretty bad too when the train is empty except for you! I went last fall to Halloweekends, and me and my dad rode in the backseat of the train, and were the only ones on there! Boy did that ride hurt, I think I might still have those bruises...
It was quite cold up there on the platform too! My husband and I deceided to ride Mean Streak about 7pm and waited about half an hour for the ride. We were the next riders in line, and the ride goes down. The ride ops had a hard time getting the riders out of their seats from the train that just entered the station. At that time you had a choice to leave and come back the way you came, or stick it out to see how long it took for them to fix the problem. We decided to wait it out, and it seemed to take only 10 min for the maintenace crew to fix the problem and get the ride up and running again. Hey, it's the first day, there are bound to be problems! My overall experience on the first day was great, I definately will come again on opening day!!

I have a new respect for Mean Streak after riding the Texas Giant in January at Six Flags over Texas... My god that ride is rough. I couldn't wait for it to be over.
I'll be sampling the Rattler at SFFT later this season. I hear that's even worse! ;)
I hit MS about 1pm on Sunday. I didn't think that the ride was quite as bad as last year, and it certainly squealed much less than it did last year. I still sit very straight and not quite against the back of the seat when I ride, though. And it took a ride op and a key to get me out of the seat when the lap bar wouldn't release. It'll probably be a "ride when there's no wait" ride this summer too.

My need for speed is second only to my need to be inverted! No wonder Raptor is my favorite!

For me, it seemed like the retracking did help. Normally, my back is killing me before we even hit the MCBR. But Sunday, my back didn't hurt until the ride was almost over.

All I know is that it wasn't the usual torture I have to subject myself to on each CP trip:-).

Mean Streak isn't a bad ride, especially at night. It's too bad it can't run like it did when it opened. I was amazed on Sunday that the lines were a good 20 minutes long for the Squeek.

With that said, I would like to see Cedar Point put their next big attraction back there. This would bring more ridership to Mean Streak, and it would also prepare the GP for a new woody (which I'm dying for!).
