Mean Streak & Hercules

Now that Hercules is gone does anyone think there is hope for the destruction of Mean Streak? They were both built by Dinn and designed by Curtis and seem to of had similiar problems as far as guest complaining that the ride was just to painful. I'm really hoping that this is a sign of things to come.

I know that most people will say that Cedar Point will never remove a coaster but I don't think that's the case, but I could be wrong. Cedar Fair removed Hercules for a new high tech ride. Perhaps they will do the same at Cedar Point by removing Mean Streak.

I can only wish for the best because Frontiertown is TIRED and needs something to wake it up.

For those of you that love Mean Streak and feel that it's a smooth ride I can understand that. You probably rode it on a good day and know where to sit and know which train to ride in, but lets be realistic most people that goto Cedar Point aren't that knowledgeable about rollercoasters and will probably never ride MS again if they have a bad experience on it.

The queues of MS have to be telling the company something about it's popularity because everytime I'm there they are empty. *** Edited 9/1/2004 6:13:24 PM UTC by delphi94***

They won't tear down Mean Streak anytime soon, if ever. And about the queues...Wicked Twister and Magnum rarely have lines. I suppose those coasters should be torn down too because of their lack of popularity?

I don't know about you, but I've been on all trains and there was only minor bumpiness. To me, Magnum was more rough than Mean Streak. But that's just my 2 cents ;).

If Mean Streak is going to be removed, you will probably have to wait alot longer to see it happen.

It isn't the best ride for sure, but I still make sure to hit it every time.

Mean Streak is a unique coaster at CP and it has a tremendous amount of fans. I suppose they should remove and it put in yet another steel, bright colored, eye-sore? When I become bored with the other coasters, I look forward to MS for it's unique ride experience, bumpy and all. The very last seat is always the best, you really get thrown around, well worth it to me.

Lol, Wicked Twister and Magnum are ALOT more popular than MS will ever be.

instead of tearing it down, they should just retrack it...thats the biggest problem with the bumpiness. Then reinforce the first turn so that they can get rid of the brake down the first hill. Whenever its running faster, the bumps go away. Retrack it and reinforce it...not tear it down.

I always ride MS in the Front two cars, those are the smooth'est parts or the train to ride to me. But when I rode Blue Streak we got the back and it was pretty smooth, but with lots of air.

He was using the length of queue as a reason as to why Mean Streak should be torn down. Wicked Twister and Magnum both rarely have lines. Alot of good rides don't have lines anymore. Hell, I only waited 5 minutes for Dragster last time I visited CP. Just because the ride doesn't produce a lengthy line, doesn't mean it should be gotten rid of...

LOL! Anyway, yeah MS does have some decent lines. I remember the last time I went Magnum was pretty much a 15 min-no wait at all while Mean Streak was about a half an hour. That's just pointing out something I noticed, not my opinion.

How do you know that? You have no idea what they are going to do and don't say never because Hercules is gone. As far as the line for Magnum and WT....well Magnum is a high capicity ride and the crew there rocks running 3 trains all the time. That is why the queue is short. As for WT I've never waited under and hour.

Does anyone know what the lines were like for Hercules?

You're right, I don't know that for sure. But, I'd be willing to bet alot of money that they don't tear it down in the near future. It's one of only 2 wooden coasters at CP so don't plan on having it go away any time soon.

My comment about tearing down Wicked Twister and Magnum was a sarcastic joke directed at the your original post, delphi94. You used Mean Streak's lack of a line as a main reason as to why they should tear it down. I was basically asking you a question, not stating a point. Should Wicked Twister and Magnum be torn down because they too have non-existent lines 98% of the time? Perhaps it was a bit too advanced for your and Huggy Bear's comprehension level...I'll be more careful next time.

It's kind of hard to READ sarcasm. The queue for MS is not the only reason he says they'de tear it down, hes talking about how rough it is. Though I know CP will not tear down MS.

Mean Streak is retracked on an almost continuous basis. For all of the years this site has been here, you wood coaster maintenance wizards have been predicting its removal or suggesting how to fix it. Don't you think that a staff of six full-time carpenters would know better than you how to maintain the ride?

Mean Streak is still a great wooden roller coaster! Yes it is a little bumpy at times but it is still good and trust me it does get lines. Last year on one of my visits during Halloweekends The Magnum and Wicked Twister each had hour waits while the Mean Streak had a two hour wait (A very busy day at the park). So that tells me that alot of people still like the Mean Streak! And someone said that The magnum line is short because of it running three trains at full capacity that is true but the Mean Streak is also able to run three trains with no problem at full capacity.

You are right though I should of left that part out it wasn't a good argument, but that was only one reason I indicated for the removal of Mean Streak. My point for this entire thread was that Hercules and Mean Streak seemed to have similiar complaints and since Dorney Park and Cedar Point were both owned by CF perhaps there was a chance Mean Streak would be removed just like it's sister coaster was.
