Mayhem

From all this discussion about the "Mystery Attraction," I foresee a major mayhem occurring on Opening Day next season. All this hype, and if the new ride is going to be as tall or as big as everyone is thinking it will be, will bring seriously large crowds to the Park for the debut. I remember Opening Day in 2000, and there was chaos at the gates, people running to get to Millennium Force first, and people pushing other people out of the way, people jumping over bushes, etc. I was nearly trampled outside the Marina gate when the park officials finally opened that gate. I clearly remember the Main gate opening before the rest, creating a mob at the Marina gate. I just hope the mayhem I foresee does not occur. I also anticipate a 4-6 hour wait on opening day, providing it does not break down.
I plan on running to the freeway cart (assuming there is one), right after the Joe Cool ERT (assuming that as well). If those 2 programs are implemented I think it will cut down on the rush. Get a thousand people to ride it an hour before the park opens and displace another thousand plus with freeway and I think it will cut down on the mayhem a little..
I forgot about the Joe Cool ERT, and Freeway... but I now foresee another problem with the Freeway system on that occasion. I see a 2 hour wait to just get a Freeway pass, and who knows if you will get one if you wait in line to get one because of the number of people. I don't want to sound pessimistic, but I just think lines for it will suck. Let's hope for the best, and that the Park Administrators have played through every possible scenario to avoid hellish lines and mayhem.
Hmmmmm.... it fits... Testing out the new FreeWay system this year to see if it could work on a major ride next year. Very sneaky, Cedar Point!

What would you say if I told you I met my Homecoming date at Cedar Point?

I think that it would be a smart idea to run to the FreeWay booth and wait for an hour to get a hand stamp. Speaking of Mayhem, that would be an awesome name for the ride too.

MillenniumRider - I would consider MF a major ride, not a test dummy for next year's major ride. Same goes for WT and Raptor.

I agree that there will be huge lines on Opening Day, but I'll just ride it during JCC (hopefully), get a FreeWay stamp, and then head over to MF for the rest of the day! :) Then during the first week it is open, go down and ride the new one all day!

Majin, I think he meant that this year was a test run for next year's big coaster, making sure it would work o.k. I mean, they did ticket to ride with MF, but never used Freeway for MF and Raptor before. I agree that it very well may have been a test, or possibly, they may just use ticket to ride again...
There is absolutely nothing Cedar Point can do to reduce the line length on opening day. There will just be too many people.

I really don't think they should use the Freeway on opening day. For anyone here who remembers the day Millennium Force opened remembers the chaos. I think that having the Freeway on opening day will just add to the chaos.

However, A week afeter openeing day, I think it will be fine to implement Freeway.

"Millennium Force, the Future is riding on it."
Now, Cedar Point is "Bulding for the future."
Coincidence?

A lot of this depends on if they can get the ride up and running at full capacity on opening day. MF opened up with one train I believe and ran only two for a couple weeks at the beginning while they got the blocking figured out. Why this wasn't done by Intamin during the design phase is beyond me, but that's how it was. MF would have a 4 or 5 hour wait every day if they only ran one train! :) Thankfully, this is not Six Flags... :)

It will be pretty hard for anone to get closer to the ride so they can be the first in line. With MF many people went over to the marina entrance, with the closest entrances by breakers, they will get some great ERT, even while the gates have opened.

I Forsee a good ten to fifteen minute run the the queue.

I'll be going the second week, on a Wednesday...

Well, the first couple of weeks will be pure chaos. I know I will be going during the end of the year (I sadly remember waiting 4 hours for MF in May, 2002, great ride though). I know this ride will bring more riders over to Magnum, but I wonder what will happen with Gemini. I doubt there will be many more people over there because I have a feeling most park guests will ride this new attraction and then head right over to MF.

Matt - MF opened with two trains, the red and blue. Although I do think there were times when it was down to one. Nonetheless, its Opening Day was crazy. I think the line to GET IN to the queue (with a full queue) was all the way back to the Cadillac Cars/Cedar Downs! I can only imagine what it will be like for the giant rocket coaster.

raptor323 - I think just the first couple weekends will be hectic. May weekdays have historically been almost empty, and MF didn't really change that.

If you enter the Magnum entrance, they will be able to beat everybody there...oops! :)

If Joe Cool is used on Opening Day, the main gate will be the only one utilizing it... The Magnum gate will not open until after the Star Spangled Banner. I still foresee mass mayhem even if all the possible scenarios are played out in advance to avoid most of the problems... Still expect 4-6 hours on Opening Day.
Where did you hear that one Millennium Michael? All gates were open for JCC and resort guests this opening day so I don't see why next year would be any different. If it is, they sure as heck better tell me! :)

MDOmnis, I clearly remember an e-mail being sent out last year to Joe Cool members, and a slip in the mail coming stating that the only entrance for Joe Cool ERT was the far left exit gate at the front to the park. Hotel guests were permitted to stand in that line for opening day. I thought it would have been nice to wait at the beach gate to get on WT faster this past opening day, but JC ERT was not available. That's where my info comes from.
Hmmm, interesting. I am not a JCC member this season, but I was with a couple of JCC members on opening day and they got in the Oceana gate without a problem and left me behind! Damn Natalie and Jeff! :)

Maybe the info I received in the mail and over e-mail was changed at the last minute... but I remember a bunch of us complaining about what we knew at that time to be the facts.
Hmmm... I never received that info. I thought that all the gates were open for JCC ERT.
