Mayflies Abound!

Boy, those mayflies are EVERYWHERE this year! I have seen them in years past, but never this bad! Mean Streak is just COVERED in them, and to ride it at night, well you should get a medal for that.

I think the Mayflies were much worse last year... WT would be coated in them.. but not so much this year.

Awwwww man, I think I got dain bramage!

I was there on Thursday, and the lights under TTD were terrible. There were thousands of Mayflies roasting on them. You could hear them sizzling and see smoke coming off the lights, and the smell was awful. I really feel bad for the employees in the stands around the base of that tower, the smell was overwhelming.

there's a lot of them on the webcams. when do they normally go away by? i hope before my trip in mid august

yeah, mayflies.... do mot come in may, they come in mid july and usually gone by the first few weeks of august, but yes... there are alot this year, there are alot every year though

It's like that every year, and there's nothing you can do about it. It's a natural cycle of what happens there.

I thought they would have died off by now. I know they are pretty active in May and June.

I was there Saturday July 27 and the mayflies must be pretty well died off. I saw like 3 live ones and a few dead ones on the ground and stuff but thats about it. When they come they leave pretty quick.
