A while ago there was a really nice photography site with cedar point pictures. The site was Digitalthrills.net.
Anyways, the site is no longer active, and what I'm looking for is one of the pictures that was of a waterspout behind Mean Streak I think it was.
I'm looking to use it as my desktop backround, and at one point I had it saved to my computer, but I didn't back up everything last time I reformatted and I lost it.
If anyone has any of these pictures saved, I believe there were about 3 or 4 different ones, and could email them to me I would be a happy camper!
Click on the photo section of this site.
Go to the photo feature section of the left drop down menu and then choose the Water Spout photos from the right drop down menu.
Yeah I've seen those as well, but the ones I'm looking for are different.
I tried using the internet archive to view them but all the image links are broken. If I'm not mistaken the waterspout I'm thinking of is from a different day..
Not positive on that though.
Just figured someone might have saved them to their computer, if I remember correctly the guy that ran that site used to use the forums here too.
Thanks for the help though.
I don't know where the one he's talking about is, but I believe he's talking about the one with Blue Streak in the foreground. I thought it used to be on this site somewhere.

I remember the ones he is talking about. The were of another waterspout in 99 or something directly behind Mean Streak. digitalthrills.net has been off the internet for a few years though.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was meanstreak in the photo.
I was hoping the guy that ran digitalthrills was still using the forums here, at one point I know he was.
You might try the Sandusky Register web page. I have the front page that had the water spout on it somewhere. My sister sent it to me. It was taken from some place over by Marblehead. The Mean Streak was in the backround and the spout was moving into Sandusky Bay. I think it was in 99.
Please remain seated until the ride comes to a complete AND final stop.....
Oh!
Nice I'll check that out..
I never thought to check out old newspapers.
Edit- No Luck with backtracking so far news wise.
Was able to pull up digithrills on the wayback machine though.

You mean here.
Yea, but people need to learn how to navigate a site. Give a man a fish he will eat for a day... etc...
Besides look at all the content they miss out on by not exploring for themselves.

And if people learned how to read, they would see that PunkyPiko said he already saw those. :)
2012 - Magnum XL 200 Crew
I seen those pictures well before anyone posted the link to them.
In the first post I said they were originally on digitalthrills.net and was hoping someone else had them saved or the guy that used to run that site was still on the forums here.
I've lurked this site since it was virtualmidway.
been there seen that.
They can cause quite a bit of damage to ships and NOAA will classify them as a tornado if they come ashore... however most of them do not form in Super Cells.. But I would imagine if one were to strike a coaster like Magnum, then it would probably be shut down for quit a while.
Except that this type of waterspout has trouble in shallow water, much less once it gets on land. It wouldn't cause much damage to Magnum. The ride might be shut down for an hour or two while maintenance goes to have a look but that would be about it.

Goodbye MrScott
John
There are basically 2 types - A tornado that moves from land onto water.... A Cold Air Funnel that forms over the water. The 2nd one is more like a Dust Devil - Spins around a lot and looks threating but really not. And I said like a Dust Devil - NOT a Dust Devil. Hope that helps....

Well, of course its not a dust devil....that requires dust. And if there is dust on the water, you're in Cleveland.

Water spouts appear when there is a warm surface layer of water and cold air, most commonly in August, Sept, October. They generally have no where NEAR the force of a tornado, however they can flip a boat and cause minor dock damage in marinas. The city of Montreal was rained upon by lizards by one, and the same thing happened to New York with tadpoles. All jokes aside though, a few years back when one hit Chicago from Lake Michigan, a man was thrown from a dock and a windsurfer dissapeared - he hasn't been found to this day. My advice, stay away from them....
