Cedar Point - An adventure waiting for everyone.

If your business is ONLY interested in making money, sure. If they care about things other than just how much profit they can pull in, money isn't always the determining factor.

Money is the determining factor. Almost all decisions root back to money. Take the 5 cornerstones displayed in park operations for example:

Safety: Results in less lawsuits, saves money.

Service, Cleanliness, and Courtesy: Prevents people from getting pissed off, not coming back, and telling a lot of people not to go there.

Integrity: Keeps employees from stealing company property.

You can do the same for pretty much anything the park has done.

120 miles to CP from Sylvania?

That's certainly a stretch. It's only 150 miles round trip from here.

I was there is July last year and was surprised how many food outlets were closed. I never did get my frozen custard that day.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

There was a time when the park didn't open for the season untill the week before Memorial Day. I've always maintained that there was never enough business in early May to warrent the opening of the park. While a park that looks like a ghost town may be an enthusiast's dream, it gives the front office indigestion.

If May wasn't making them money they wouldn't have stayed opening during it for so many years (and continue to do so).

They are making plenty of money in May. They just want more.

YeeHaw!

You have a valid point. However, keep in mind that Cedar Point's operating season is only so long. I would imagine that they'd recieve a much stronger criticism if they decided to open in June. They do work awfully hard to get the park ready for May...

And May also provides the crews with a nice "practice cushion" before the really heavy crowds of late June through August hit.

With global warming, maybe Cedar Point will open in March in 20 years. Either that or it will be under water because of the Arctic glaciers melting.
