May 28th, 1994?

I was looking at a website that featured rollercoaster accidents, and was shocked to see that a 14 year old boy apparently died at CP on a coaster. There were no details, actually it was pretty vague, and it did not say anything about which coaster it was. Does anyone know anything about it?

I tried to put in the website, and either I'm doing something wrong or it won't let me, but here it is:

A girl with a preexisting heart condition died after riding WildCat. The ride did not cause the death, it was just a coincidence that she was riding at the time.

It certainly does not belong on a roller coaster accidents web page. That is very misleading.

It is very misleading, however the page does state that it is about roller coaster-related incidents. Just out of my own curiousity, I noticed that on that page, Cedar Point is mentioned once, while the phrase "Six Flags" is mentioned over 11 different times. Just makes you think...

On a side note, does anyone know what had happened to the guest that fell off of a Corkscrew queue rail this season. I heard so many conflicting stories, but had not yet heard the official story.

What about the boy that apparently fell out of, or as the story goes, was pushed out of the CCMR?

I don't see anything on the page that talks about 'incidents' - only "roller coaster accidents."

Granted, this page is old. It was copied/stolen from the World of Coasters web site which has been offline for a long time. That in itself is misleading, because it would appear on the surface to be a legit web site. The URL is a giveaway there.

Why is this surprising? Cedar Point is one park. Six Flags has, what, a dozen? More?

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

Did they screw up the story THAT bad, saying it was a boy instead of a girl?

I also got the link from an unofficial PKI website.

I heard that in all of CP's history that 2 people have died. An elderly ladie on Wildcat and a little boy on Cedar Creek Mine Ride. The boy stuck his foot out while riding it and was pulled out to fall to his death. An employee told me this while i was there in June.
It's sad to think that more people believe that they are going to get injuries on the big rides rather than the small ones, but when it comes down to it, it's just the opposite.

I also beleive that the bigger the ride is, the safer it is too. My theory is that because it is a bigger ride therefor probally newer. The newer and bigger rides are given more advanced safety systems. I also beleive that falling out of a 75 foot rollercoaster is probally as dangerous as falling out of a 400 foot rollercoaster. You are going to die on both falls.

These type of incidents happen all the time unfortunatly. But they really have nothing to do with the ride.

That I can think of off hand there was the mother on Top Gun at PKI this summer who died from health conditions, a lady on Goliath at SFMM the same sort of thing. I even remember a couple years ago I believe a lady died at Cedar Point after collapsing while in line for a kiddy ride.

Just show's you that these things can happen at any time.

I really honestly think any coaster with a simple restraint system is safe. All of CP's coasters meet my standards (Duh) and I think that those kind of pages scare people away. But, a fact is a fact!

I know from "excellent" sources that the mine ride story if false. Remember that employees like to talk and will say anything they can, even if its false. CP is a huge gossip house for employees.

I am postive that a man died on Raptor after having a heart attack during the ride. This was a few years ago. He was unconsious at the end of the ride...

Um, why am I an idiot? I is true, I read it on one of those websites things.
And we all know that those website things are indeed 100% factual.

Heart attacks are actaully an acute case of myocardial infarction. In other words, the blood vessels that feed the thick heart walls become clogged or are otherwise blocked. This causes some cardiac muscle to die and can disrupt hear rhythm. Mild heart attacks cause little damage to the heart and can be quickly recovered from. Major heart attacks leave their victims in critical condition which gives them down to minutes before permanet brain damage begins. Heart attacks are like ticking time bombs since they can happen anywhere doing anything.

An amusment park is a good place to have a heart attack since time is critical from the onset till medical attention is recieved. Cedar Point has on site paramedics to respond to any medical condition, usually heat stroke. Usually, only the most severe heart attacks cause death with such prompt medical attention. There was a guy a a golf course near where I live that had a mild heart attack. The ambulance that came had a dead battery in the shocker device [I can't remember it's name]. They called for another ambulance but by the time they got there he had already suffered significant brain damage and later died.
